BBC Studios today announced that it has partnered with free-to-view satellite television provider in South Africa, Openview, to launch multi-genre channel, BBC UKTV (channel 114). The BBC\u2019s first free-to-view channel in South Africa will launch on its 100th birthday, Tuesday 18th October 2022 and offer a variety of entertainment, natural history series, soaps and children\u2019s shows from BBC Studios\u2019 award-winning catalogue. Scheduled to match the viewing habits of families in South Africa, BBC UKTV will offer a variety of high-quality entertainment across all genres:<\/p>\n\n\n

Iconic Factual entertainment shows can be enjoyed on the channel every day ranging from the award-winning baking competition, The Great British Bake Off (Season 8) <\/em><\/strong> and cooking shows Rachel Khoo\u2019s Kitchen Notebook<\/em><\/strong> and Mary Berry Cooks<\/em><\/strong> to thrilling motoring shows such as Million Dollar Car Hunters <\/em><\/strong>on Thursdays at 20:55 <\/em><\/strong>and classic Top Gear (Season 19)<\/em><\/strong> which will air weekdays at 20:00.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

British hospital based soap Casualty (season 36)<\/em><\/strong> will debut in South Africa every Thursday at 18:20 and Doctors (season 22) <\/em><\/strong>will premiere weekdays at 19:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus, long-running sitcom My Family (Season 1)<\/em><\/strong> joins the channel launch line-up which follows the trials and tribulations of a British family, starring American-British actress Zo\u00eb Wanamaker CBE (Harry Potter<\/em>) and British actor Kris Marshall (Death In Paradise; Sanditon; Love Actually<\/em>), airing at 06:00 and 19:30 every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viewers will be able to experience the BBC\u2019s incredible natural history collection every day at 09:00 and weekdays from 15:35 \u2013 from BBC Studios Natural History Unit\u2019s nature documentary\u00a0Wild Africa<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0weekdays at 15:35 to unique local travelogue exploring Africa,\u00a0Africa with Ade Adepitan,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Tuesdays at 21:00. Plus a selection of Sir David Attenborough\u2019s fascinating docuseries;\u00a0Big Bird, Giant Dinosaur, Giant Egg, Fabulous Frogs\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>and\u00a0Natural Curiosities\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>join the channel later this year.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The channel will also provide entertainment for children aged 0-12 between 06:00 and 09:00 every morning including the first seasons of action-packed geographical adventure, Go Jetters<\/em><\/strong>, Children\u2019s cookery show, My World Kitchen<\/em><\/strong>, wildlife show, Andy\u2019s Safari Adventures<\/em><\/strong> and My Pet & Me<\/em><\/strong> which helps children appreciate what it really means to have a pet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
