aking place from 31 January \u2013 5 February 2023, The Joburg Film Festival, in partnership with Multichoice, alongside the JBX Content Market, aims to create a platform that provides access to discussion and debate on key trends in filmmaking. This knowledge sharing platform is designed to enable filmmakers to engage and be inspired, while connecting with peers on pertinent issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To that end, The JFF Industry Programme and the JBX Content Market boast a rich and diverse programme that comprises of masterclasses, panel discussions, and workshops presented and facilitated by established industry and subject matter experts. Supported by Brand SA, these sessions provide a unique opportunity for local and internationally based filmmakers to engage and connect in the heart of South Africa\u2019s film industry, Joburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The JFF Industry Programme will run from Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 February 2023 in Sandton, and to take part in an any if the sessions, simply register and reserve your seat on www.joburgfilmfestival.co.za<\/a> or on www.quicket.co.za<\/a>.\u00a0 Additionally, the JBX Content Market will take place from 1 -2 Feb 2023 with a full range of conversations, masterclasses, as well as networking and business opportunities at the Sandton Convention Centre.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Top industry talent from Multichoice, Paramount+, the NFVF, the SABC, Animation SA and a host of other companies will be taking part in the programme including; Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, (MD Nigerian Film Corporation); Mayenzeke Baza (AAA Entertainment); Tarek (Terk) Stevens (Producer: Us Presidential Lifetime Award Recipient); Taiye Selasi, (Founder of Cocoa Content); Nicholas Weinstock, (President Invention Studios); and Tshepiso Phiri, (Known Associates) amongst many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Joburg Film Festival Industry Programme commences on 1 February with a session on Sustainable Business Models in Film and TV: Cost Plus versus Co-Production,<\/em> followed by The Rise of Documentary<\/em>, hosted by Steps Generation Africa, as well as, Our Stories Our Gold What is the ideal African Bouquet of Stories?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 2 will kick-off with a focus on co-productions between South Africa and the United States with a high profile international panel,  titled \u201cTeamwork Makes The Dream Work: Collaborations are the key to survival, so why not coproduce<\/em>?\u201d, that will focus on collaborations with the USA, hosted and moderated by Locations Africa. This session will be followed by a focus on the co-production agreement signed between South Africa and Nigeria in the session, Nigeria and South Africa Co-Productions.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sisterhood Friday concludes the programme on Feb 3rd<\/sup>, with a focus on women in film. Various sessions are scheduled including one that highlight female directors, a masterclass Spotlight Woman in Film<\/em> presented by Taiye Selasi, Founder of Cocoa Content, a creative production company backed by media investor Jerome Levy, as well as a session presented by SWIFT focused on Safety for Women in Film and Television\/ Intimacy and Safety Contact Officers. The day will culminate in a Women in film cocktail hosted by Movieroom and a screening of Freda<\/em>, a woman directed film at  the Theatre on the Square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The JBX Content Market, Feb 1 -2 at the Sandton Convention Centre will host over 50 buyers from Africa, Europe, US and Asia with an exhibition space, and networking areas complimented by a range of conversations that will include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
