After capturing the hearts of local music lovers with her debut single in 2022, singer-songwriter, Jaid River<\/strong>, is back in the spotlight with the release of her much anticipated second single and debut album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STAD VAN VERLANGE<\/em><\/strong> is a powerful ballad about the experience of leaving behind what you know, and the doubts that come with being on your own for the first time in a new place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a powerful and emotional exploration of the memories, people, dreams and words that we cling to and keep safe, even though they are not what they used to be, and the song is testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the musician\u2019s incredible song-writing ability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery song I write, and release carries a piece of my story and who I am. Sharing that with people is incredibly special to me,\u201d<\/em> she explains. \u201cI think the essence of the song is something that we all go through at some point in our lives, the lonely part of growing up, and I also think that we all just want to know that we\u2019re not alone in how we feel.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

STAD VAN VERLANGE <\/em><\/strong>follows in the footsteps of Duisend Jaar Van Nou<\/em>, which was very well received and secured her three nominations at this year\u2019s Afri-Indie Independent Artist Awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

River\u2019s debut album, the culmination of her hard work and dedication to her craft, is now also available on digital platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VERLANGER<\/em><\/strong> provides a journey through a diverse range of genres including pop and adult contemporary music. The theme of the album is longing, with each song exploring a different type of yearning, whether it\u2019s for people, places, clarity or a dream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe all long for something, and this album is a reminder to live in the moment and cherish the people and places around us,\u201d<\/em> she shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaid wrote all the songs on the album except for Gee Nie Om Nie<\/em>, which she co-wrote with Jaco Smit. When asked about her favourite tracks, the musician cites Verlanger<\/em> for its powerful lyrics and personal significance and Stilte<\/em>, which she wrote about the peace she experienced at the Karoo Stilfees in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album was produced by Jaco Smit and Gideon Botes, and recorded over the course of almost two years. \u201cMaking this album was one of the most enjoyable things I\u2019ve ever done in my life and doing it with friends made it even better\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaid, whose real name is Jeanlie Minnie, was born in Potchefstroom and raised in George.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The young singer-songwriter started performing in 2016, at the age of seventeen, initially playing at markets and restaurants. That same year she had the opportunity to perform at the Karoo Stilfees alongside artists such as Joshua Na Die Re\u00ebn, Lizandra Winter, Len Muller, and Jaco Van Der Merwe, where she forged close friendships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before pursuing her Diploma in Music at Tshwane University of Technology in 2018, Jaid spent a year learning the ropes from Lizandra Winter and Joshua Na Die Re\u00ebn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having obtained her diploma in 2021, Jaid\u2019s focus has since shifted to her music career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to finalising arrangements for her album launch, she is excited about touring the country with her music and collaborating with other artists and songwriters in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VERLANGER<\/em><\/strong> is set to be released digitally on 17 February 2023 complimented with a launch show on 3 March 2023 at the AfriForum Theatre in Pretoria and will feature Joshua na die Re\u00ebn as guest artist, as well as a live band, consisting of Jason Moser on drums, Manalisi Mdaka on bass and keys, Jaco Smit on electric and acoustic guitar, piano, and vocals, Andreas Van Tonder on acoustic and electric guitar, and Alzanley Lizemore on backing vocals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaid het al die liedjies op die album geskryf behalwe Gee Nie Om Nie<\/em>, wat sy saam met Jaco Smit geskep het. As jy haar uitvra oor haar gunstelingsnitte sonder sy Verlanger<\/em> uit vir sy kragtige lirieke en persoonlike betekenis en Stilte<\/em>, wat sy geskryf het oor die vrede wat sy by die Karoo Stilfees in 2016 ervaar het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die album is oor \u2019n tydperk van 2 jaar opgeneem en vervaardig deur Jaco Smit en Gideon Botes. \u201c<\/em>Om hierdie album te maak was een van die lekkerste dinge wat ek nog in my lewe gedoen het en om dit saam met vriende te kon doen, het dit nog beter gemaak.<\/em>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaid, wie se regte naam Jeanlie Minnie is, is in Potchefstroom gebore en het in George grootgeword.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die jong sanger en liedjieskrywer het in 2016 (op die ouderdom van sewentien) by restaurante en markte begin optree. In dieselfde jaar, het sy die geleentheid gekry om by die Karoo Stilfees op te tree saam met kunstenaars soos Joshua Na Die Re\u00ebn, Lizandra Winter, Len Muller, en Jaco Van Der Merwe, en blywende vriendskappe is gevorm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Voordat sy haar diploma in musiek verwerf het aan die Tshwane Universiteit van Tegnologie in 2018, het sy meer oor die musiekbedryf geleer onder leiding van Lizandra Winter en Joshua Na Die Re\u00ebn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nadat sy haar diploma in 2021 verwerf het, het sy in alle erns op haar musiekloopbaan begin fokus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tans is sy besig om die re\u00eblings vir haar albumvrystelling te finaliseer en sien sy uit daarna om die land vol te toer met haar musiek en om saam met ander musikante en liedjieskrywers te werk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VERLANGER <\/strong><\/em>is reeds digitaal beskikbaar vanaf 17 Februarie 2023 en word bekendgestel met \u2019n lewendige vertoning op 3 Maart 2023 by die AfriForum-teater in Pretoria. Joshua na die Re\u00ebn sal as gaskunstenaar optree tydens die geleentheid, terwyl Jaid vergesel sal word deur \u2019n lewendige orkes, wat bestaan uit Jason Moser op dromme, Manalisi Mdaka op baskitaar, Jaco Smit op elektriese en akoestiese kitaar, klavier en agtergrondstem, Andreas Van Tonder op akoestiese en elektriese kitaar, en Alzanley Lizemore as agtergrondsanger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
