Zo\u00e9 has just the released her emotional new single titled, \u2018\u2019Hier.\u2019\u2019 The singer and songwriter entered the Afrikaans music scene earlier this year with her pop-rock anthems titled, \u2018\u2019Crazy Meisie\u2019\u2019 and \u2018\u2019Lief H\u00ea.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019Hier,\u2019\u2019 however is a moodier song, featuring electronic elements and showcasing Zo\u00e9\u2019s versatility and her ability to write about more serious themes. Zo\u00e9 explains that the song was written about someone close to her that was going through a difficult time. \u2018\u2019It usually during the more trying times you realise who is really there for you. \u2018Hier\u2019 is a very emotional song and I hope that my audience will connect with it,\u2019\u2019 she shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Zo\u00e9 writing has become one of her outlets to deal with her own feelings and struggles. \u2018\u2019Writing is a medium I can use to tell my side of a story. I can put down what I\u2019m feeling on a piece of paper and process it. With this song the process was heavy, but at the end I felt relief.<\/em>\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019Hier\u2019\u2019 showcases a modern sound reminiscent of Billie Eilish and was produced by Tertius Human of CoolerBox Studios. \u2018\u2019I was inspired by water and wanted parts to sound as if it was happening under water.<\/em>,\u2019\u2019 Human shared. \u201cI spent days exploring and experimenting with different sounds, building up the track and stripping it back down when it started to feel too busy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zo\u00e9 also released a music video for \u2018\u2019Hier.\u2019\u2019 The video was shot at 012 Central in Pretoria\u2019s CBD. It was filmed by Michael van Zyl and Directed by George van Rooyen. \u2018\u2019Water was already the theme in the studio, so we decided to run with it. Water can be isolating, it can be reflective, nourishing, comforting, and sustaining \u2013 so we explored different images with water that would support the theme without being too literal,\u2019\u2019 van Rooyen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019Hier has a very important message,\u2019\u2019 Zo\u00e9 explained. \u2018\u2019You are never alone and if you are facing a difficult time there is always someone you can turn to or talk to. I\u2019ve learned that you are never as alone as you feel, you can take far more than you realise and eventually things will get better.<\/em>\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
