This comes after the announcement of the partnership between MultiChoice and international media heavyweight Comcast\u2019s NBCUniversal and Sky last year.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In February, the streamer will be releasing a record 21 Showmax Originals from four African countries, a revamped international content slate, and the continent\u2019s first standalone Premier League mobile streaming plan. More than 1 300 hours of new Showmax Originals will be released in 2024 across Africa so viewers will be able to watch an average of more than 3.5 hours of fresh local content on Showmax every day of the year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The diverse launch lineup includes adaptations of two local bestsellers: Angela Makholwa\u2019s serial killer thriller <em>Red Ink, <\/em>and<em> <\/em>international co-production <em>Catch Me A Killer<\/em>, based on the memoir of Micki Pistorius, South Africa\u2019s first serial killer profiler.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reality TV fans will be spoilt for choice, with <em>Widows Unveiled<\/em>; <em>Sadau Sisters<\/em>, led by Nigerian actress Rahama Sadau; <em>Chocolate Kings, <\/em>about male exotic dancers; Ghana-set dating show <em>What Will People Say?; <\/em>and new seasons of hits like <em>The Mommy Club <\/em>and <em>The Real Housewives of Durban.&nbsp;<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s also high school drama <em>Youngins, <\/em>from iEmmy nominees Tshedza Pictures; university drama <em>Wyfie;<\/em> an epic drama series set in Igboland, <em>Cheta\u2019m<\/em>; crime drama <em>Koek;<\/em> comedy <em>Ekhaya Backpackers<\/em>; Nigerian documentary series <em>Free Men<\/em>; and new seasons of hits like <em>Flawsome<\/em> (Nigeria), <em>Single Kiasi <\/em>(Kenya) and <em>ENO <\/em>(Ghana)<em>. <\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Showmax will be releasing four films for Valentine\u2019s Day: <em>Forever Yena<\/em>, <em>Intlawulo <\/em>and <em>Matilda en Matthys <\/em>from South Africa and <em>The Counsellor <\/em>from Nigeria.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For fans<em> <\/em>of international content, the MultiChoice and Comcast partnership guarantees Showmax an ongoing supply of hit content, as the media giant owns the likes of Universal Pictures, NBC, Peacock, Sky, DreamWorks Animation and Telemundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Already home to the three most nominated shows at next week\u2019s Emmys\u00ae and the TV drama winner at last night\u2019s Golden Globes, Showmax will continue to draw titles from Banijay, BBC, eOne, Fremantle, HBO, ITV, Lionsgate, Paramount, Sony and Warner Bros. Discovery, among others, so viewers can expect international titles on Showmax to radically increase this year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At launch, international highlights will include <em>Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning <\/em>and <em>Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, <\/em>two<em> <\/em>of the 10 biggest box office hits of 2023;<em> <\/em>the second season of <em>Halo<\/em>, express from the US; <em>Lawman: Bass Reeves, <\/em>from<em> <\/em><em>Yellowstone <\/em>co-creator Taylor Sheridan and starring David Oyelowo in a Critics Choice- and Golden Globe-nominated performance; missing persons procedural <em>Found, <\/em>which was NBC\u2019s biggest launch on Peacock yet; Neill Blomkamp\u2019s #1 US box office hit <em>Gran Turismo<\/em>; and box sets of classic NBC comedies like <em>The Office <\/em>and <em>Parks and Recreation<\/em>. It\u2019s also been confirmed that box sets of HBO\u2019s <em>House of the Dragon<\/em> and the second season of the phenomenal HBO hit <em>The Last of Us<\/em> will be heading to Showmax in the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New international content like <em>Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse <\/em>and <em>Halo<\/em> will be available in HD with Dolby 5.1 surround sound: one of the benefits of Showmax\u2019s migration onto the global Peacock streaming platform.
