{"id":21213,"date":"2024-02-12T18:08:03","date_gmt":"2024-02-12T16:08:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/?p=21213"},"modified":"2024-02-12T18:09:31","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T16:09:31","slug":"dfm-2024-animation-projects-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2024\/02\/12\/dfm-2024-animation-projects-announcement\/","title":{"rendered":"DFM 2024 Animation Projects Announcement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Durban FilmMart Institute is pleased to announce the animation project selection for the 15th annual DFM Pitch and Finance Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Durban FilmMart 2024 will see the return of the animation elements in its programming in July.&nbsp; To commence with this strand, the DFM will provide masterclasses and one-on-one mentorship to projects in development as they prepare to pitch in Africa\u2019s leading film finance and co-production market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGlobal demand for African animation content is growing and international investors are looking for authentic African stories capturing authentic African characterisation,\u201d says Magdalene Reddy, Director of the Durban FilmMart Institute.&nbsp; \u201cCreative talent across the continent are looking for a space to be heard and seen.&nbsp; This is the aim of the Animation@DFM programme &#8211; create visibility for quality African content on the global stage.&nbsp; This year the programme has selected projects in development from both established and emerging animators from 6 countries.&nbsp; The strength of the programme lies within these creative individuals who will participate in the DFM Animation Pitch and Finance Forum later this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DFMI received more than 100 applications from animators across the continent and the diaspora which made the selection of 8 projects by the&nbsp; independent evaluation panel very competitive, challenging and exciting.
