{"id":21274,"date":"2024-02-18T23:34:19","date_gmt":"2024-02-18T21:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/?p=21274"},"modified":"2024-02-19T15:38:25","modified_gmt":"2024-02-19T13:38:25","slug":"street-smart-a-short-film-by-writer-director-editor-tim-greene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2024\/02\/18\/street-smart-a-short-film-by-writer-director-editor-tim-greene\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Street Smart&#8221; &#8211; A Short Film By Writer \/ Director \/ Editor Tim Greene"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>An uplifting short film set on the streets of Johannesburg, <em>Street Smart<\/em> (4 min, RSA, 2024) tells the story of a street kid who discovers the awesome power of a smart idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Created by Cape Town indie film maker Tim Greene (<em>Boy Called Twist, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/title\/1243\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/title\/1243\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Skeem<\/a>, The Fury<\/em>), the film is based on actual events and will be released today on YouTube:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"STREET SMART\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q_R6_O59MD4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Tim Greene is an award winning South African film maker, best known for writing and directing the feature films BOY CALLED TWIST (2004) and SKEEM (2011), and as a showrunner on numerous award\u2013winning South African TV shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His latest feature film THE FURY (2022) is currently exclusive on Amazon Prime worldwide and won the SA Writer\u2019s Guild\u2019s prestigious RICHARD NOSWORTHY AWARD for 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is the winner of two SAFTA Golden Horn awards, for BEST DIRECTOR: TV DRAMA for HARD COPY in 2006 and for BEST SCREENPLAY for SKEEM in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SKEEM also won BEST COMEDY SCREENPLAY and BEST COMEDY at the Africa Magic Viewers&#8217; Choice Awards in 2013, and scooped the prestigious AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based in Cape Town, he works internationally, most recently with MTV Staying Alive (London), Discovery Learning Alliance (Washington, D.C.) and with AMC International (LA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tim recently started to bring his unique story-telling talents to off-line editing. After years of cutting his own work, a happy collaboration with director Meg Rickards on her feature film Atlantis (eVOD \/ Amazon Prime \/ Moonlighting \/ Known Associates) inspired him to make the shift into editing in early 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since then he hasn\u2019t looked back, cutting three features, a six part drama series for the US network Pureflix, and a feature-length documentary about rhino poaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Short form work includes title sequences for Umlilo, Rhythm City and iNumber Number as well as a music video for Jack Parow. But mainly he works in long form, mainly in drama, and mainly on Premiere Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has some proficiency in After Effects and has had some success using Unreal Engine to animate photo-realistic cinematics.
