{"id":21484,"date":"2024-03-20T09:39:23","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T07:39:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/?p=21484"},"modified":"2024-03-20T09:39:26","modified_gmt":"2024-03-20T07:39:26","slug":"comic-con-has-three-reasons-to-take-leave-in-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2024\/03\/20\/comic-con-has-three-reasons-to-take-leave-in-april\/","title":{"rendered":"Comic Con has Three Reasons to Take Leave in April"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>2024 seems to be a year that has its foot on the gas, but Comic Con Cape Town promises fans a chance to disconnect from \u201cthe real world\u201d for five days and enjoy the best in pop culture and gaming from 27 April to 1 May at CTICC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With all eyes fixed on what could be a five-day weekend over the show\u2019s dates, with Wednesday (1 May) being the Workers\u2019 Day public holiday \u2013 you could score a five-day weekend by just taking two days off (Monday, 29 April and Tuesday, 30 April).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To add to the excitement of a five-day weekend, this year, Comic Con Cape Town is embracing the spirit of fun and creativity by adding themed events to two days of the festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Monday: A Celebration of All Things Spooktacular<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>On Monday (29 April), Comic Con Cape Town will transform into a haven for fans of horror. Fans are invited to embrace the eerie atmosphere and partake in a variety of thrilling activities, including horror movie screenings, murder mystery games, escape rooms, prosthetic and make-up tutorials, horror-themed panel discussions, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s something for every ghoul and goblin at the Comic Con Cape Town Horror Celebration,&#8221; said Carla Massmann, Show Director of Comic Con Cape Town. &#8220;Whether you&#8217;re a seasoned horror enthusiast or just looking for a good scare, Monday promises to be a day of spine-tingling excitement. Families are still welcome to the event on this day. The theme promises to celebrate horror as a genre rather than scare fans away. But there might be one or two scary cosplays.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tuesday: The Cape&#8217;s Biggest Family Pyjama Party<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuesday will see Comic Con Cape Town teaming up with Ackermans to host the ultimate family-friendly pyjama party. Attendees of all ages are encouraged to get cozy in their favourite character &#8216;jamies and enjoy a day of comfort and camaraderie. The schedule includes a dedicated PJ character cosplay slot, a dance party with international con DJ &#8211; DJ Elliot, family quiz and movie night, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re excited to bring families together for a day of relaxation and fun,&#8221; Massmann said. &#8220;Our Pyjama Party is the perfect opportunity to come out and have some relaxed fun, connect with loved ones, and make some lasting memories.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Geek Meet and Mingle Event<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Both Monday and Tuesday will feature the first-ever Geek Meet and Mingle event, providing attendees with the chance to connect with like-minded individuals in a speed networking setting. Once fans have their ticket to Comic Con Cape Town, they can register to match up here: <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/QRRHTFs4hkwHWQJQA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">forms.gle\/QRRHTFs4hkwHWQJQA<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We understand the importance of community and connection within the geek culture,&#8221; Massmann said. &#8220;The Geek Meet and Mingle event aims to foster new friendships and collaborations among attendees.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comic Con Cape Town will run from 11:00 to 20:00 on both themed days (but will run from 9:00 to 18:00 on Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday), with all vendors and KidsCon activities accessible throughout the event.
