Since 1990, the GLAAD Media Awards have grown to be the most visible annual LGBTQ awards show in the world, sending powerful messages of acceptance to audiences globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominees for the 35th Annual GLAAD Media Awards reflect work published, released, or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2023. This year, GLAAD announced 310 nominees across 33 categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies, which fund GLAAD\u2019s work to accelerate LGBTQ acceptance and visibility in media, will be held this year in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton on Thursday, March 14, 2024 and in New York City, at the Hilton Midtown, on Saturday, May 11, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GLAAD\u00a0<strong>President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis<\/strong>\u00a0serves as Executive Producer of the 35th GLAAD Media Awards, alongside GLAAD\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Rich Ferraro<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0Anthony Allen Ramos<\/strong>. GLAAD\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Tony Morrison<\/strong>\u00a0will serve as Supervising Producer and\u00a0<strong>Jose Useche<\/strong>\u00a0will serve as Producer. At a time when the LGBTQ community is under attack by false narratives and misinformation, when less than half of American say they are familiar with transgender and nonbinary people, and when one in five Gen Z adults identify as LGBTQ, this year\u2019s nominees powerfully reflect the realities of LGBTQ existence today, in our communities and around the globe. Amid a summer of union strikes across Hollywood, the stakes have never been higher to maintain the progress of LGBTQ visibility and representation across all media, from film, television, music, journalism, publishing and more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year, GLAAD presents non-competitive Special Recognition Awards to media projects that do not fit into one of the existing GLAAD Media Awards categories. For the 35th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, GLAAD is presenting Special Recognition honors to 11 media projects and individuals that spotlighted diverse segments of the LGBTQ community in innovative ways.&nbsp; The 11 individuals and projects include:&nbsp;<strong><em>The Dads<\/em>&nbsp;(Netflix),&nbsp;<em>Drag Latina&nbsp;<\/em>(Revry \/ LATV),&nbsp;<em>El Sabor de Navidad&nbsp;<\/em>(Vix),&nbsp;<em>Enamor\u00e1ndonos<\/em>&nbsp;(Univision),&nbsp;<em>Love in Gravity<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Relighting Candles&nbsp;<\/em>(Hulu),&nbsp;<em>Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce<\/em>&nbsp;(AMC Theatres), The Tennessee Holler,&nbsp;<em>Wendy, perdida pero famosa&nbsp;<\/em>(Vix)<\/strong><em>,&nbsp;<\/em>and&nbsp;<strong><em>Yes I Am: The Ric Weiland Story<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GLAAD\u2019s Barbara Gittings Award for Excellence in LGBTQ Media honors a pioneering individual, group, or community media outlet that has made a significant contribution to the development of LGBTQ media. The award is named after Barbara Gittings in recognition of her groundbreaking work as editor of The Ladder, and for her appearances as an out lesbian on national news media throughout the 1970s and 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, The Barbara Gittings Award for Excellence in LGBTQ Media will be presented to +Life Media. Founded in 2019 by AOMedia and journalist Karl Schmid, +Life is a multi-platform brand that produces content laser focused on ending HIV stigma, bringing the conversation about HIV into the mainstream and \u201cturning positive into a plus.\u201d The multi-platform brand is inspired by journalist and KABC-TV \u2018On The Red Carpet\u2019 host Karl Schmid\u2019s own story of living with fear of having HIV due to the amount of ignorance and stigma surrounding the virus. Content that tells the stories of HIV advocates and people living with HIV, reports the latest research in HIV prevention and treatment, and encourages viewers to live their best lives runs across +Life social media channels and runs each week on ABC\u2019s Localish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, GLAAD\u2019s 34th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, streamed exclusively on<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program featured groundbreaking appearances by\u00a0<strong>Christina Aguilera<\/strong>\u00a0who received GLAAD\u2019s Advocate for Change Award and was introduced by Club Q Survivor,\u00a0<strong>Michael Anderson<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Bad Bunny<\/strong>\u00a0was honored with GLAAD\u2019s Vanguard Award and was introduced by\u00a0<strong>Ricky Martin<\/strong>;\u00a0<strong>Jeremy Pope<\/strong>\u00a0received GLAAD\u2019s Stephen F.
