{"id":22278,"date":"2024-06-12T00:57:39","date_gmt":"2024-06-11T22:57:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/?p=22278"},"modified":"2024-06-12T00:57:42","modified_gmt":"2024-06-11T22:57:42","slug":"academy-announces-the-eighth-year-of-gold-rising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2024\/06\/12\/academy-announces-the-eighth-year-of-gold-rising\/","title":{"rendered":"Academy Announces The Eighth Year Of Gold Rising"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Eighty-Six Students Will Participate in Academy Career Launch Program<\/strong> <strong>in Partnership with 18 Film and Entertainment Companies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces the 2024 Academy Gold Rising talent development program, an eight-week summer educational and networking initiative that helps college seniors, recent graduates and young professionals acquire the knowledge, skills and connections to achieve careers in the film industry. \u00a0Through internships with the Academy and partner companies, Gold Rising offers unprecedented industry access, connecting participants with valuable work experiences within film, technology, production and digital media. \u00a0Upon completing the program, each Gold Rising participant will be paired with an Academy member for an eight-month mentorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Gold Rising: The Industry Experience\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fOC1CKtN6mo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Academy\u2019s Gold Rising program cultivates the next generation of storytellers and artisans. \u00a0We eagerly anticipate guiding this year\u2019s class to demonstrate and instill a deep appreciation of how each discipline and aspect of filmmaking contributes to the collaborative nature of our industry,\u201d said <strong>Brooke Breton<\/strong>, Academy governor and member of the Academy Foundation Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to valuable internships, the Academy Gold Rising program also includes the Gold Rising production track, which is available for students from Los Angeles community colleges, state schools and trade schools who have a specific behind-the-camera career focus on cinematography, costume design, film editing, production design, sound or visual effects. \u00a0Students in this track will get hands-on experience shooting on a soundstage and complete a short film project alongside Academy members and film professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, 86 students and young professionals and 18 film and entertainment companies will participate in the program. \u00a0Gold Rising\u2019s 2024 partners include The Black List, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), DTS \u2013 Xperi, The Walt Disney Company, Dolby Laboratories, FotoKem, Fremantle, Group Effort Initiative, Lionsgate, Monkeypaw Productions, Moving Picture Institute, Panavision, Paramount Pictures, Shout! Factory, Sony Pictures Entertainment, United Talent Agency (UTA) and Universal Filmed Entertainment Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Academy is dedicated to inspiring young artists and creating opportunities for underrepresented communities to engage with the film world. \u00a0The Academy Gold Rising program is a core part of this focus as it fosters pathways of access to the film industry to talented individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives,\u201d said Kendra Carter, Academy Senior Vice President, Impact and Global Talent Development. \u00a0\u201cWe\u2019re grateful to our generous partners, donors and Academy members, who enable us to share our commitment to creating opportunities for all voices to be heard and valued.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program kicks off tomorrow, June 12, with a two-day orientation that includes tours of the Academy Film Archive, the Academy\u2019s Margaret Herrick Library and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures as well as Walt Disney Animation Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery Studios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the course of the program, participants will hear from panelists and speakers on such topics as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Anatomy of a Film \u2013 \u201cThe Fall Guy\u201d (Pre-Production)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Production &amp; Post-Production \u2013 \u201cA Quiet Place: Day One\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expecting the Unexpected: A Conversation on Documentary Filmmaking<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Magic of Visual Effects and Special Effects<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>LGBTQ Storytelling as Collective Art &amp;
