Thalberg Memorial Award to producers <strong>Michael G. Wilson <\/strong>and <strong>Barbara Broccoli<\/strong>. \u00a0The Oscar\u00ae statuettes will be presented at the Academy\u2019s Governors Awards event on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe recipients of this year\u2019s Governors Awards have set the bar incredibly high across their remarkable careers, and the Academy\u2019s Board of Governors is thrilled to recognize them with Oscars,\u201d said Academy President Janet Yang. \u00a0\u201cThe selection of Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli is a testament to their success as producers of the fan-favorite Bond series and their contribution to the industry\u2019s theatrical landscape. \u00a0Richard Curtis is a brilliant comedic storyteller whose tremendous charitable efforts embody the meaning of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. \u00a0Quincy Jones\u2019s artistic genius and relentless creativity have made him one of the most influential musical figures of all time. \u00a0Juliet Taylor has cast iconic and beloved films and paved a new path for the field. \u00a0Their profound love of cinema and indelible contribution to our art form make these five individuals truly deserving of these honors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curtis\u2019s film credits include \u201cNotting Hill,\u201d \u201cBridget Jones\u2019s Diary,\u201d \u201cLove Actually\u201d and \u201cAbout Time.\u201d \u00a0He earned an Oscar nomination for his screenplay for \u201cFour Weddings and a Funeral.\u201d \u00a0Curtis is the co-founder of Comic Relief UK and USA, and his fundraising work over 40 years has helped raise more than $2 billion and supported over 170 million people. \u00a0In 2005, he co-created Make Poverty History and helped produce the Live 8 concerts. \u00a0Most recently, he co-founded the group Project Everyone, giving practical support to the UN\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals, and established the ethical investment campaign Make My Money Matter, which has helped transfer \u00a31.3 trillion into sustainable pensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A prominent figure with an illustrious musical career spanning seven decades, Jones has produced and composed an expansive body of work. \u00a0His film credits include \u201cIn the Heat of the Night\u201d and he has earned a total of seven Oscar nominations for his work on such films as \u201cIn Cold Blood,\u201d \u201cThe Wiz\u201d and \u201cThe Color Purple,\u201d receiving a Best Picture nomination for the latter. \u00a0In 1967, Jones was the first Black composer to be nominated in the Original Song category. \u00a0Throughout his career, he has collaborated with Lesley Gore, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey, among others. \u00a0Jones was the recipient of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taylor is a prolific casting director who is behind some of the most acclaimed casts in film history. \u00a0Some notable credits from her 50-year career include \u201cTaxi Driver,\u201d \u201cAnnie Hall,\u201d \u201cBig,\u201d \u201cSleepless in Seattle,\u201d \u201cSchindler\u2019s List,\u201d \u201cInterview with the Vampire,\u201d \u201cAngela\u2019s Ashes,\u201d \u201cMidnight in Paris\u201d and \u201cBlue Jasmine.\u201d \u00a0She has worked with directors including James L. Brooks, Nora Ephron, Mike Nichols, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wilson and Broccoli of EON Productions are producers of the James Bond film series. \u00a0They have produced some of the most successful 007 films ever including \u201cCasino Royale,\u201d \u201cQuantum of Solace,\u201d \u201cSkyfall,\u201d \u201cSpectre\u201d and \u201cNo Time to Die.\u201d \u00a0Wilson and Broccoli have produced and executive produced independent film projects such as \u201cFilm Stars Don\u2019t Die in Liverpool,\u201d \u201cNancy,\u201d \u201cThe Rhythm Section,\u201d \u201cTill\u201d and \u201cThe Accidental Getaway Driver.\u201d \u00a0They are directors of the Broccoli Foundation, founded by Dana and Albert R. (Cubby) Broccoli to support the arts, medicine and education. \u00a0Cubby Broccoli received the Thalberg Award in 1981. \u00a0Barbara Broccoli is the second woman to receive the Thalberg Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Honorary Award, an Oscar statuette, is given \u201cto honor extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences of any discipline, or for outstanding service to the Academy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, also an Oscar statuette, is given \u201cto an individual in the motion picture arts and sciences whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry by promoting human welfare and contributing to rectifying inequities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Irving G.
