Instead, they are finding a new home on DStv Stream,\u00a0where a dedicated Showmax section inside the app brings together many of Showmax\u2019s most acclaimed originals and fan favourites alongside the full live streaming experience available on DStv\u2019s standalone streaming service.\u00a0Showmax Originals and more will be available on DStv Compact and DStv Premium packages exclusively on DStv Stream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move ensures that the award-winning African series&nbsp;remain&nbsp;widely available after the current Showmax service closes on 30 April, now within the&nbsp;broader DStv streaming experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShowmax helped unlock a wave of world-class African storytelling,\u201d&nbsp;says Nomsa&nbsp;Philiso, Director Content,&nbsp;General&nbsp;Entertainment&nbsp;English&nbsp;and Portuguese speaking territories at MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company.&nbsp;\u201cSeries like The Wife,&nbsp;Youngins,&nbsp;Devilsdorp&nbsp;,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Adulting, along with productions from Nigeria, Kenya and across the continent, were created through collaboration between MultiChoice\u2019s content teams and local producers. That commitment to African storytelling does not change.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The success of Showmax Originals has been built through partnerships with producers,&nbsp;writers&nbsp;and creative talent across Africa. Series such as&nbsp;Spinners, a co\u2011production between MultiChoice and CANAL+, which aired across Africa and in France,&nbsp;demonstrate&nbsp;how locally developed African stories are increasingly reaching global audiences.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For South African customers, DStv Stream&nbsp;remains&nbsp;the&nbsp;platform&nbsp;where this content is available locally, alongside&nbsp;a much broader library of African and international content,&nbsp;live&nbsp;channels&nbsp;and sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis move brings together&nbsp;Showmax Originals,&nbsp;on\u2011demand entertainment and live television in a single platform designed around how audiences want to watch&nbsp;and enjoy their content&nbsp;today,\u201d says Willington&nbsp;Ngwepe, CEO of MultiChoice SA (Pty) Ltd, the broadcasting services licensee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What will be available to watch?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The dedicated Showmax section on DStv Stream will feature standout titles including&nbsp;<em>The Wife,&nbsp;<\/em><em>Youngins<\/em>&nbsp;(2026 SAFTA winner for Best Telenovela),&nbsp;<em>L<\/em><em>aw, Love and Betrayal<\/em><em>,&nbsp;Devilsdorp<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Adulting<\/em>, alongside popular series from across the continent such as&nbsp;<em>Wura<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Single Kiasi<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>International content on demand includes various&nbsp;Real Housewives&nbsp;series,&nbsp;<em>Starfleet Academy, The Burbs<\/em>,&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins<\/em>, as well as popular Afrikaans titles such as&nbsp;<em>Die&nbsp;Kantoor<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Koek<\/em>. More content will be added weekly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This sits alongside everything else available on DStv Compact&nbsp;or&nbsp;DStv&nbsp;Premium, including tens of thousands of hours of on\u2011demand movies and series and more than 100 live channels available to stream 24\/7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For customers, it delivers the best of both worlds: popular local originals such as&nbsp;<em>Mgidi Moms,&nbsp;uThando&nbsp;Nes\u2019Thembu,&nbsp;Inimba<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>The Real City&nbsp;Makoti<\/em>, alongside premium&nbsp;international&nbsp;channels,&nbsp;plus kids\u2019 programming&nbsp;including boxsets of&nbsp;<em>Cocomelon<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Blippi<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Superstrikas<\/em>,&nbsp;and world\u2011class sport, reinforcing DStv as Africa\u2019s most comprehensive entertainment platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sport remains a key part of the experience. Through SuperSport, subscribers can watch competitions such as the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, LaLiga and South Africa\u2019s Betway Premiership, including the Soweto Derby on 25 April, as well as&nbsp;additional&nbsp;SuperSport channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike Showmax Premier League, which was only available on mobile devices, DStv Stream can be viewed on smart TVs as well as mobile devices<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to get Showmax on DStv<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers can download the DStv Stream app or visit the DStv website, log in or sign up, and navigate to the Showmax section. Showmax Originals on DStv Stream are available on DStv Compact and DStv Premium packages. This includes satellite customers, who get access to DStv Stream as part of their package, as well as standalone DStv Stream customers.
