In August Gordhan declined to appear before the Hawks as requested. Then, on Tuesday—two weeks before delivery of his medium term budget—the NPA announced that a summons, on charges of alleged fraud, had been delivered to him. Support for Gordhan has poured in from various quarters and, while the Minister has spent much time reassuring investors that the economy is making a turnaround, every move against him has sent shock waves through the markets and hit the rand hard, renewing fears of a downgrade to junk status. Carte Blanche brings key analysis to these developments.

Producer: Este de Klerk
Presenter: Derek Watts
Researcher: Laura Byrne

Tutu talks Joy

In a world suffering turmoil, war, famine and more, is it still possible to find a sense of joyfulness?
