Effie Brown (\u201cDear White People\u201d) will produce the event, and Rodrigo Garcia (\u201cLast Days in the Desert\u201d) will be directing for the fourth consecutive year.<\/p>\n<p>The evening\u2019s presentation is dedicated to the late Anton Yelchin, who participated in the first Nicholl Live Read event in 2013 alongside fellow actors Elle Fanning, Taraji P. Henson and Jason Isaacs.<\/p>\n<p>Cho most recently starred in the summer blockbuster \u201cStar Trek Beyond.\u201d His other credits include \u201cGrandma,\u201d \u201cIdentity Thief\u201d and \u201cStar Trek Into Darkness.\u201d Cho came into the mainstream spotlight with the hit comedies \u201cHarold &amp; Kumar Go to White Castle\u201d and \u201cAmerican Pie.\u201d He also appeared in the 1999 Best Picture winner \u201cAmerican Beauty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elwes can be seen in the upcoming features \u201cBillionaire Boys Club,\u201d \u201cThe Queen of Spain\u201d and \u201cWe Don\u2019t Belong Here.\u201d His other film credits include \u201cBeing Charlie,\u201d \u201cRobin Hood: Men in Tights\u201d and \u201cThe Princess Bride.\u201d Elwes was a producer and co-writer on the feature \u201cElvis &amp; Nixon,\u201d released earlier this year. He currently stars in the television series \u201cThe Art of More.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>King can currently be seen in the biographical feature \u201cThe Birth of a Nation.\u201d Her other film credits include \u201cThe Rewrite,\u201d \u201cFour\u201d and \u201cDamsels in Distress.\u201d She currently stars in the television series \u201cHow to Get Away with Murder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shawkat can next be seen starring in TBS\u2019 dark comedy series \u201cSearch Party,\u201d which was selected as part of the Official TV Selection for the 2016 SXSW Film Festival. Her film credits include \u201cThe Intervention,\u201d \u201cGreen Room,\u201d \u201cWhip It\u201d and \u201cAmreeka.\u201d She may be best known for her role as Maeby F\u00fcnke in the Emmy\u00ae Award-winning comedy series \u201cArrested Development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Presenters for the evening\u2019s program are five members of the Academy Nicholl Fellowships Committee: producer Julia Chasman (\u201c25th Hour\u201d), animation director Jennifer Yuh Nelson (\u201cKung Fu Panda 3\u201d), writer Misan Sagay (\u201cBelle\u201d), actor Eva Marie Saint (\u201cOn the Waterfront\u201d) and producer Peter Samuelson (\u201cArlington Road\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Last month four individual screenwriters and one writing team were selected from 6,915 entries as winners of the 2016 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition. The winners are (listed alphabetically by author):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Michele Atkins, \u201cTalking about the Sky\u201d (Seattle, WA)<\/li>\n<li>Spencer Harvey and Lloyd Harvey, \u201cPhoto Booth\u201d (Balgowlah, Australia)<\/li>\n<li>Geeta Malik, \u201cDinner with Friends\u201d (Los Angeles, CA)<\/li>\n<li>Elizabeth Oyebode, \u201cTween the Ropes\u201d (Sunnyvale, CA)<\/li>\n<li>Justin Piasecki, \u201cDeath of an Ortolan\u201d (Los Angeles, CA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each of the winners will receive a $35,000 prize, the first installment of which will be distributed at the Live Read event. Since 1986, 147 Nicholl fellowships have been awarded. Fellowships are presented with the understanding that the recipients will each complete a feature-length screenplay during their fellowship year.<\/p>\n<p>Admission to the 2016 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Awards Presentation &amp; Live Read is free.
