One hundred forty-five films were originally submitted in the category.<\/p>\n<p>The 15 films are listed below in alphabetical order by title, with their production companies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cCameraperson,\u201d Big Mouth Productions<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCommand and Control,\u201d American Experience Films\/PBS<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe Eagle Huntress,\u201d Stacey Reiss Productions, Kissiki Films and 19340 Productions<\/li>\n<li>\u201cFire at Sea,\u201d Stemal Entertainment<\/li>\n<li>\u201cGleason,\u201d Dear Rivers Productions, Exhibit A and IMG Films<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHooligan Sparrow,\u201d Little Horse Crossing the River<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI Am Not Your Negro,\u201d Velvet Film<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe Ivory Game,\u201d Terra Mater Film Studios and Vulcan Productions<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLife, Animated,\u201d Motto Pictures and A&amp;E IndieFilms<\/li>\n<li>\u201cO.J.: Made in America,\u201d Laylow Films and ESPN Films<\/li>\n<li>\u201c13th,\u201d Forward Movement<\/li>\n<li>\u201cTower,\u201d Go-Valley<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWeiner,\u201d Edgeline Films<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe Witness,\u201d The Witnesses Film<\/li>\n<li>\u201cZero Days,\u201d Jigsaw Productions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Academy\u2019s Documentary Branch determined the shortlist in a preliminary round of voting. Documentary Branch members will now select the five nominees from among the 15 titles.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations for the 89th Oscars\u00ae will be announced on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The 89th Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Dolby Theatre\u00ae at Hollywood &amp; Highland Center\u00ae in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network at 7 p.m. ET\/4 p.m. PT.
