It\u2019s been six long years, but the wait is finally over\u2026 Captain Jack Sparrow is back! When you watch the fifth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise sail exclusively onto the IMAX screen, you will agree that it\u2019s been worth the wait!<\/p>\n

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar\u2019s Revenge swashbuckles its way into Ster-Kinekor cinemas and onto its immersive IMAX 3D screens from Friday, 26 May, where you will be treated to even more of the action. Presented in an expanded aspect ratio, the movie will fill more of the IMAX screen and fans will see 26% more of the image.<\/p>\n

Curse of the Black Pearl gave us undead pirates. Dead Man’s Chest introduced the squiddy Davey Jones. At World’s End saw the return of an ancient goddess. On Stranger Tides gave us that awkward mermaid romance we’d all like to forget. And now, Salazar\u2019s Revenge introduces Ghost Sharks \u2013 and moviegoers watching the film in IMAX will be in for a special visual treat, with that extra 26% being an important part of witnessing a slo-mo flying skeletal shark mid-flight\u2026 you have been warned!<\/p>\n

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Captain Jack Sparrow in the all-new Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar\u2019s Revenge. The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when an army of deadly ghost sailors, led by the villainous Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escapes from the Devil\u2019s Triangle bent on killing every living pirate at sea \u2013 most notably Jack.<\/p>\n

Jack\u2019s only hope of survival lies in finding the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artefact that gives its possessor complete control over the seas. But, to find it, he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the \u2018Dying Gull\u2019, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.<\/p>\n

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar\u2019s Revenge also stars Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, Golshifteh Farahani as the sea-witch Shansa, David Wenham as Scarfield, Stephen Graham as Scrum and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa. After a ten-year absence, Orlando Bloom returns to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in his role as Will Turner.<\/p>\n

Joachim R\u00f8nning and Espen Sandberg direct the film, with Jerry Bruckheimer producing. The executive producers are Mike Stenson, Chad Oman, Joe Caracciolo, Jr., Terry Rossio and Brigham Taylor. The story is by Jeff Nathanson and Terry Rossio, and Jeff Nathanson wrote the screenplay.<\/p>\n

Disney\u2019s Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar\u2019s Revenge has been specially formatted in its entirety exclusively for IMAX\u00ae theatres. The expanded 1.9:1 aspect ratio presented in IMAX will fill more of the screen to show up to 26% more of the image than in standard theatres, to thrill audiences with a truly action-packed, immersive cinema experience.<\/p>\n
