With only two weeks to the grand finale of M-Net\u2019s prestigious singing contest The Voice SA, the Top 5 talent were announced tonight. Fans cast more than a million votes this week to take Caroline Brussow, Craig Lucas, Fatman, Josh Ansley and Samantha Leonard\u00a0to next\u00a0Sunday\u2019s spectacular semi-finals. This means that PJ Pretorius (26) from #TeamKaren had to bid the show farewell tonight.<\/p>\n
\u201cNever stop dreaming,\u201d PJ\u2019s Coach Karen Zoid told him after host Lungile Radu revealed the final voting results. \u201cGo out there and make a name for yourself \u2013 I\u2019ve got your back, always,\u201d she promised.<\/p>\n
In his original Blind audition the affable young singer from Secunda received three chair turns from the coaches for his rendition of Coldplay\u2019s \u201cYellow\u201d, and beat Durban\u2019s Chico Muya in the Battle rounds performing Bruce Springsteen\u2019s \u201cSecret Garden\u201d. In the Knockouts he beat out Port Elizabeth\u2019s Emma Ellis with an acoustic version of the Pink anthem \u201cPerfect\u201d, accompanying himself on the guitar. He made it through to the Top 8 with a dose of Shania Twain\u2019s \u201cYou\u2019re Still The One\u201d in the second Live Showstopper show at the Mosa\u00efek Teatro, but his Top 7 performance of the Temper Trap hit \u201cSweet Disposition\u201d landed him in the Danger Zone, and PJ\u2019s tender interpretation of John Lennon\u2019s \u201cImagine\u201d in the Top 6 show last week turned out to be his final performance.<\/p>\n
#TeamKahn\u2019s Fatman (41) from Bela Bela and #TeamKaren\u2019s Samantha Leonard (24) from Kimberley found themselves in the Danger Zone with PJ tonight, and had to give the performances of their lives in tonight\u2019s Top 5 show.<\/p>\n
Up first tonight was #TeamKahn\u2019s Craig Lucas (23) from Cape Town, setting an upbeat tone with the late Amy Winehouse\u2019s classic \u201cValerie\u201d. \u201cYou\u2019re an amazing vocalist, it\u2019s natural for you,\u201d Lira told him, and Bobbie van Jaarsveld agreed. \u201cYou\u2019re an entertainer by heart,\u201d he said. Craig\u2019s Coach Kahn Morbee said he has \u201cthe X-Factor\u201d, and \u201cI believe, regardless of who wins this competition, you will be a superstar,\u201d he said.
\nCraig\u2019s voting number is 01.<\/p>\n
Musical theatre veteran Josh Ansley (31) tackled James Arthur\u2019s hit, \u201cSay You Won\u2019t Let Go\u201d tonight. Coach Kahn commended Josh for taking a risk with a more modern sound these days. \u201cYour voice is phenomenal, I\u2019m envious of your voice,\u201d he admitted. Karen Zoid remarked that Josh had undergone a serious transformation over the past few weeks. \u201cYour soul is shining,\u201d she told him. And Josh\u2019s Coach, Bobby van Jaarsveld, promised that there was even more to come! \u201cNext week he\u2019s going to blow your minds!\u201d he grinned.
\nJosh\u2019s voting number is 15.<\/p>\n
For #TeamKaren, Samantha Leonard (24) from Kimberley touched the audience\u2019s hearts with the wildly popular Brandi Carlile ballad \u201cThe Story\u201d. Kahn thought it was an excellent song choice that showed off her vocal range. \u201cYou are a full package!\u201d Coach Lira raved, calling Sam a cross between Shania Twain and Riana Nel. \u201cShe is ready to go out there and tour, and make lots of money!\u201d a proud Coach Karen exclaimed happily.
\nSam\u2019s voting number is 08.<\/p>\n
The Pride of Bela Bela, #TeamKahn\u2019s Fatman (41), continued his streak of interpreting big power ballads when he took on Robbie Williams\u2019 iconic \u201cAngels\u201d, accompanying himself at the grand piano. \u201cDaai was baie mooi,\u201d Lira told him in Afrikaans. \u201cThis is the only competition in the world that a dream like yours could come true,\u201d she noted happily. \u201cAnd you\u2019re suddenly the fashion guy as well!\u201d Bobby joked. \u201cI think what you\u2019ve showed throughout out the show is that you\u2019re an accomplished musician,\u201d said Kahn, proudly sporting a Fatman-hat.

#TeamBobby\u2019s sweetheart Caroline Brussow (32) from Bloemfontein belted out her second Sia track of the season, the smash hit \u201cTitanium\u201d, and received a standing ovation from the audience at the Mosa\u00efek Teatro. \u201cWhat a performance!\u201d Karen shouted happily. \u201cYou are titanium, you\u2019re amazingly strong, and I believe you will be very successful in your life,\u201d she told Caroline Grace. Coach Kahn enjoyed that Caroline had showed more of her vulnerable side tonight, and \u201cthat\u2019s why you are the best female audience in the show!\u201d Coach Bobby said proudly.
\nCaroline Grace\u2019s voting number is 13.<\/p>\n
Voting for the Top 5 opened at the end of the show and will close on Tuesday, 27 June at 22:00. Tickets for The Voice SA live shows are available from Computicket.<\/p>\n
