Ster-Kinekor supports the local film industry and this partnership with DIFF shows our dedication to the development of the rising stars of tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn line with our vision of promoting and supporting local content, representatives from Ster-Kinekor will also take part in a panel discussion organised by the NFVF on Monday, 17 July. The focus of the discussion will be on issues surrounding the distribution and marketing of local film content as well as addressing the negative perceptions around the SA film industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In its 38th year, the DIFF takes place from 13 July to 23 July. It is the largest film festival in Southern Africa and presents over 200 screenings celebrating the best in South African, African and international cinema.<\/p>\n<p>The outdoor screening will take place at the Bay of Plenty on Sunday, 16 July and will be the opening of the Wavescape\u2019s Film festival showcasing the following four films:<\/p>\n<h6>Whale Fantasia<\/h6>\n<p>Deep blue sea, 2013, 6min<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Director: GoPro<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Alan Watts, three sirens, and three Humpback Whales dance together in a short film. Shooo!<\/p>\n<h6>Bruce Gold: Last of the Great Surfing Hippies<\/h6>\n<p>South Africa, 2016, 8min<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Director: Anders Melchior<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This award-wining short film tells the story of Bruce Gold has managed to survive for almost 50 years in Jeffrey\u2019s Bay without having a job. He is among the last of a dying breed of surfers who have dedicated their entire lives to riding waves.<\/p>\n<h6>Sea Change<\/h6>\n<p>South Africa, 2016, 6min<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Director: Like Giants<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The groundswell of support for alternative approaches is becoming increasingly evident all over the globe. One of the pioneer of green boards is Durban&#8217;s John McCarthy, former pro surfer. This is about his mission to &#8220;make, ride and share greener surfboards.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h6>Given<\/h6>\n<p>Hawaii, Fiji, South Africa, 2016, 72min<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Director: Jess Bianchi<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Given is narrated by a six-year-old kid called Given, the son of legendary longboard surfers Aamion and Daize Goodwin from their island home of Kauai through 15 countries to fulfill an ancient calling.
