Last year, convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to six years in prison for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp \u2013 a sentence the State called “shockingly lenient”. Now the State is heading back to Bloemfontein to argue that the Justices of the\u00a0Supreme Court of Appeal\u00a0should increase Pistorius’ sentence to the prescribed\u00a0minimum\u00a0sentence for murder \u2013 15 years.\u00a0Carte Blanche asks: can the State succeed in its attempt to extend Pistorius\u2019 time behind bars?<\/p>\n
