Sixty-three pictures had originally qualified in the category.<\/p>\n<p>The 10 films are listed below in alphabetical order by title, with their production companies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cCradle,\u201d Devon Manney, director (University of Southern California)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDear Basketball,\u201d Glen Keane, director, and Kobe Bryant, writer (Glen Keane Productions)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cFox and the Whale,\u201d Robin Joseph, director (Robin Joseph)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cGarden Party,\u201d Victor Caire and Gabriel Grapperon, directors (MOPA)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIn a Heartbeat,\u201d Esteban Bravo and Beth David, directors (Ringling College of Art and Design)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLife Smartphone,\u201d Chenglin Xie, director (China Central Academy of Fine Arts)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLost Property Office,\u201d Daniel Agdag, director, and Liz Kearney, producer (8th in Line)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLou,\u201d Dave Mullins, director, and Dana Murray, producer (Pixar Animation Studios)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cNegative Space,\u201d Max Porter and Ru Kuwahata, directors (Ikki Films)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cRevolting Rhymes,\u201d Jakob Schuh and Jan Lachauer, directors (Magic Light Pictures)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Members of the Short Films and Feature Animation Branch viewed all the eligible entries for the preliminary round of voting.<\/p>\n<p>Short Films and Feature Animation Branch members will now select five nominees from among the 10 titles on the shortlist. Branch screenings will be held in Los Angeles, London, New York and San Francisco in January.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations for the 90th Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The 90th Oscars\u00ae will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Dolby Theatre\u00ae at Hollywood &amp; Highland Center\u00ae<br \/>\nin Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network.
