One hundred seventy films were originally submitted in the category.<\/p>\n<p>The 15 films are listed below in alphabetical order by title, with their production companies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cAbacus: Small Enough to Jail,\u201d Mitten Media, Motto Pictures, Kartemquin Educational Films\u00a0and\u00a0WGBH\/FRONTLINE<\/li>\n<li>\u201cChasing Coral,\u201d Exposure Labs in partnership with The Ocean Agency &amp; View Into the Blue\u00a0in association with Argent Pictures &amp; The Kendeda Fund<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCity of Ghosts,\u201d Our Time Projects and Jigsaw Productions<\/li>\n<li>\u201cEx Libris \u2013 The New York Public Library,\u201d Ex Libris Films<\/li>\n<li>\u201cFaces Places,\u201d Cin\u00e9 Tamaris<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHuman Flow,\u201d Participant Media and AC Films<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIcarus,\u201d Netflix Documentary in association with Impact Partners, Diamond Docs, Chicago Media Project and Alex Productions<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAn Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power,\u201d Paramount Pictures and Participant Media<\/li>\n<li>\u201cJane,\u201d National Geographic Studios in association with Public Road Productions<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLA 92,\u201d Lightbox<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLast Men in Aleppo,\u201d Larm Film<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLong Strange Trip,\u201d Double E Pictures, AOMA Sunshine Films and Sikelia<\/li>\n<li>\u201cOne of Us,\u201d Loki Films<\/li>\n<li>\u201cStrong Island,\u201d Yanceville Films and Louverture Films<\/li>\n<li>\u201cUnrest,\u201d Shella Films and Little by Little Films<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Academy\u2019s Documentary Branch determined the shortlist in a preliminary round of voting. Documentary Branch members will now select the five nominees from among the 15 titles.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations for the 90th Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The 90th Oscars\u00ae will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Dolby Theatre\u00ae at Hollywood &amp; Highland Center\u00ae in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network at 6:30 p.m. ET\/3:30 p.m. PT.
