In the week leading up to the 90th Oscars\u00ae, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a series of public programs celebrating this year\u2019s nominees in the Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Foreign Language Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, and Animated and Live Action Short Film categories.\u00a0 Events will be held at the Academy\u2019s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills and Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
The Oscar\u00ae Week schedule is as follows:<\/p>\n
OSCAR WEEK: SHORTS<\/a> Waititi received an Oscar nomination in 2004 for the live action short film \u201cTwo Cars, One Night.\u201d He most recently directed last year\u2019s \u201cThor: Ragnarok.\u201d\u00a0The program will delve into the Animated Short Film and Live Action Short Film categories with complete screenings of all the nominated films as well as onstage panel discussions with the filmmakers (schedules permitting).<\/p>\n OSCAR WEEK: DOCUMENTARIES<\/a> Amend is a film editor whose documentary feature credits include \u201cThe Case Against 8\u201d and the Oscar winners \u201cInto the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport\u201d and \u201cThe Long Way Home.\u201d\u00a0 Williams is a director who won an Oscar in 2010 for the documentary feature \u201cMusic by Prudence,\u201d and received an Oscar nomination in 2017 for the documentary feature \u201cLife, Animated.\u201d\u00a0 His other credits include \u201cGod Loves Uganda\u201d and \u201cBlackface.\u201d\u00a0 All the films nominated in the Documentary Feature and Documentary Short Subject categories this year will be presented in an evening of clips and onstage discussions with the filmmakers (schedules permitting).<\/p>\n THE OSCAR CONCERT<\/a> presented with the Los Angeles Philharmonic As part of the Oscar Week celebrations for its 90th Anniversary, the Academy teams with the LA Phil to present this year\u2019s nominated scores live in concert. Thomas Wilkins will lead a celebration of the fascinating history of film music, and will include suites from each of this year\u2019s Original Score Oscar nominees.<\/p>\n OSCAR WEEK: ANIMATED FEATURES<\/a> Howard, Moore and Spencer took home Oscars for last year\u2019s animated feature \u201cZootopia.\u201d\u00a0 Howard\u2019s other feature credits include the Oscar-nominated \u201cBolt, \u201c and \u201cTangled.\u201d Moore\u2019s other credits include the Oscar-nominated \u201cWreck-It Ralph\u201d and its upcoming sequel \u201cRalph Breaks the Internet.\u201d Spencer\u2019s other credits include \u201cLilo & Stich,\u201d and Wreck-It Ralph.\u201d This year\u2019s nominees in the Animated Feature Film category (schedules permitting) will discuss their creative processes and present clips illustrating their techniques.<\/p>\n OSCAR WEEK: FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM<\/a> Johnson won the 1988 Best Picture Oscar for \u201cRain Man,\u201d and received a second nomination for \u201cBugsy.\u201d\u00a0 The directors of the nominated films in the Foreign Language Film category (schedules permitting) will explore a wide range of topics, from their experiences developing their projects, to the challenges of their profession.\u00a0 The program will include clips from each of the nominated films.<\/p>\n OSCAR WEEK: MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING SYMPOSIUM<\/a> Burwell won an Oscar for her work on \u201cBraveheart,\u201d and was nominated for \u201cSaving Private Ryan.\u201d\u00a0 Her other feature credits include \u201cLincoln\u201d and \u201cThe Princess Bride.\u201d \u201d Engelman, has served as a makeup artist on such features as \u201cBurlesque,\u201d \u201cHeat,\u201d \u201cMoonstruck,\u201d \u201cRocky IV,\u201d and \u201cGhostbusters.\u201d Blondell is a BAFTA-winning hairstylist for \u201cThe Aviator\u201d whose other film credits include \u201cThe Revenant,\u201d \u201cDjango Unchained,\u201d \u201cShampoo\u201d and \u201cHarold and Maude.\u201d In Oscar Week\u2019s final public event, the nominees in the Makeup and Hairstyling category (schedules permitting) will reveal the secrets behind their on-screen work.\u00a0 Photographs, appliances, molds, wigs and other items will be on display in the theater lobby.<\/p>\n Tickets are now available online at Oscars.org<\/a>.\u00a0 Tickets to the Shorts, Docs, Animated Features and Foreign Language Films events are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid ID (Shorts and Foreign Language Films tickets limited to four per person).\u00a0 Admission to the Saturday afternoon Makeup and Hairstyling event is free, but advance tickets are required (limited to two per person). Tickets to the Oscar Concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall can be purchased via the LA Phil\u2019s website, prices vary.
