{"id":6117,"date":"2018-02-16T01:01:54","date_gmt":"2018-02-15T23:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/?p=6117"},"modified":"2018-02-16T01:01:54","modified_gmt":"2018-02-15T23:01:54","slug":"black-panther-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2018\/02\/16\/black-panther-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Black Panther : Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After the tragic events depicted in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2016\/09\/20\/captain-america-civil-war-blu-ray-review\/\">Captain America: Civil War<\/a>, Wakanda&#8217;s new King T&#8217;Challa returns home to reign over the secluded, yet technologically advanced African nation, accepting his place unopposed by the other tribes.<\/p>\n<p>Soon, however, there is a challenger to the throne, as foes from within conspire to destroy Wakanda.<\/p>\n<p>T&#8217;Challa must now, as Black Panther, work with Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2014\/05\/08\/the-hobbit-the-desolation-of-smaug-blu-ray-review\/\">The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug<\/a>\u00a0), an agent of the C.I.A, along with members of the Dora Milaje, the Wakandan special forces, to prevent war.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Black Panther has very high standards to live up to, but it holds its own, both from a story point of view, as a solo story, and as part of the greater universe, bringing as dose of uniqueness, and a bit more of the same.<\/p>\n<p>With an all star cast, bringing the characters to life, namely Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), Nakia (Lupita Nyong&#8217;o &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2017\/12\/14\/star-wars-the-last-jedi-review\/\">Star Wars: The Last Jedi<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2016\/10\/04\/the-jungle-book-blu-ray-review\/\">The Jungle Book<\/a>), N&#8217;Jobu (Sterling K. Brown), Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Zuri (Forest Whitaker &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2016\/12\/15\/rogue-one-a-star-wars-story-scene-xtreme-review\/\">Rogue One: A Star Wars Story<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2017\/04\/14\/arrival-dvd-review\/\">Arrival<\/a>), and Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2017\/07\/11\/war-for-the-planet-of-the-apes-review\/\">War for the Planet of the Apes<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2016\/05\/17\/star-wars-the-force-awakens-bluray-review\/\">Star Wars: The Force Awakens<\/a>), there is no shortage of talent to portray the engrossing story, of a part of the MCU that we have not seen too much of.<\/p>\n<p>Another aspect of the film currently making news, are the costumes, with them so well designed, that they are part of New York Fashion Week.<\/p>\n<p>Black Panther is funny, and fun. It is a story well told, and one that is sure to engross most audiences.
