After months of intense competition it all comes down to America crowning their newest American Idol. The season 16 grand finale will air on M-Net channel 101 tomorrow morning, Tuesday 22 May at 03:00 (note that the start time has been updated).<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s (19 May) performance kicked off with the top five opening the show with winner of the fourth season of American Idol, Carrie Underwood. The top 5 all joined in to sing the pop superstar\u2019s hit song See You Again and a few minutes into the song the crowd was treated to the arrival of Carrie herself, joining the top five on stage. The show celebrated Carrie\u2019s incredible song book and the contestants paid tribute to the most important women in their lives: their mothers. A very sweet moment saw host Ryan Seacrest walked up to his own mother and wish her a very happy birthday and Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

With their excited mothers included in the show the contestants also brought on their A-games. Grammy \u00adand Emmy-nominated music luminary Katy Perry, country music superstar Luke Bryan and music icon Lionel Richie were in awe of how far the Top 5 had come musically.<\/p>\n

This morning, Monday 21 May at 02:00 in the semi-finals (for those who were able to wake up) the top 3 was trimmed down to 2 and what an emotional experience it was. The time for the grand finale has been adjusted to 03:00 tomorrow, Tuesday 22 May. For viewers who missed the live semi-final today and will not be able to catch the live broadcast tomorrow morning, these episodes will air in its regular timeslot on Friday 25 May at 19:00 and Saturday 26 May at 18:00.<\/p>\n
