{"id":68,"date":"2013-02-06T20:44:13","date_gmt":"2013-02-06T18:44:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/?p=68"},"modified":"2013-02-06T20:44:13","modified_gmt":"2013-02-06T18:44:13","slug":"2013-johannesburg-international-mozart-festival-sells-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2013\/02\/06\/2013-johannesburg-international-mozart-festival-sells-out\/","title":{"rendered":"2013 Johannesburg International Mozart Festival sells-out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">With four days of Festival still remaining, organisers are pleased to announce that all remaining concerts for the 2013 Johannesburg International Mozart Festival are sold out. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>We\u2019ve had an unprecedented demand for tickets for all the concerts \u2013 the big ones sold out within 24 hours.\u201d said Festival Director Richard Cock.<\/p>\n<p>The Festival, which this year embodied the theme \u201cSe vuol ballare &#8211; If you would dance\u201d has been an enormous success. Some of the highlights this year have included the Viennese pre-Concert, which had to be repeated to due to popular demand; performances by visiting guests Sir Roger Norrington (conductor) and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, in collaboration with the South African National Youth Orchestra; the debut performance of a new composition by Composer-in-Residence Bongani Ndodana-Breen and the forthcoming choreographic explorations at the Wits Art Museum.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">This year, the Festival expanded to include 4 new venues &#8211; St Columba\u2019s Church, The Fringe at Joburg Theatre, Wits Art Museum and King Kong in Troyville, so far with very positive responses from audiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u201cWe have had fantastic audiences for this year\u2019s Festival. I am thrilled that the dance theme and the various exciting events have gone down so well.\u201d said Artistic Director Florian Uhlig. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">With a range of concerts from intimate recitals; to innovative sound and dance improvisation demonstrations; chamber and symphony concerts, school outreaches and<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> even the popular Orchestra from Scratch; the Festival continues to expand on its mandate to invite people of all backgrounds and ages to join in and be united in the enjoyment and celebration of music.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The Festival begins each year around 27 January, which was Mozart\u2019s birthday.
