Filmmaker James Wan, director of the record-setting horror hits \u201cThe Conjuring\u201d and \u201cThe Conjuring 2<\/a>,\u201d explores another dark corner of that universe with \u201cThe Nun.\u201d Directed by Corin Hardy (\u201cThe Hallow\u201d), the new fright-fest is produced by Wan and by Peter Safran, who has produced all the films in \u201cThe Conjuring\u201d franchise.<\/p>\n

When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order\u2019s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in \u201cThe Conjuring 2,\u201d as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Nun\u201d stars Oscar nominated Demian Bichir (\u201cA Better Life\u201d) as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga (TV\u2019s \u201cAmerican Horror Story\u201d) as Sister Irene, and Jonas Bloquet (\u201cElle\u201d) as local villager Frenchie.<\/p>\n

The cast also includes Charlotte Hope (TV\u2019s \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d) as the abbey\u2019s Sister Victoria, Ingrid Bisu (\u201cToni Erdmann\u201d) as Sister Oana, and Bonnie Aarons, reprising her \u201cConjuring 2\u201d role as the title character.<\/p>\n

Hardy directs \u201cThe Nun\u201d from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman (\u201cIt\u201d), story by James Wan & Gary Dauberman. Richard Brener, Walter Hamada, Dave Neustadter, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear and Todd Williams are the executive producers.<\/p>\n

Joining Hardy behind the scenes are director of photography Maxime Alexandre (\u201cThe Voices,\u201d \u201cAnnabelle: Creation\u201d), production designer Jennifer Spence (\u201cAnnabelle: Creation,\u201d \u201cLights Out,\u201d the \u201cInsidious\u201d films), editors Michel Aller (\u201cLights Out,\u201d \u201cParanormal Activity: Ghost Dimension\u201d) and Ken Blackwell ( \u201cOuija\u201d \u201cFriday the 13th\u201d), and costume designer Sharon Gilham (TV\u2019s \u201cBlack Mirror\u201d). The music is by Abel Korzeniowski (\u201cNocturnal Animals\u201d).<\/p>\n

New Line Cinema presents an Atomic Monster \/ Safran Company production, \u201cThe Nun.\u201d Opening in theatres beginning September 7, 2018, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.<\/p>\n
