\u201cJoker\u201d centres around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen.\u00a0 Phillips\u2019 exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.<\/p>\n
The film also stars Zazie Beetz (\u201cDeadpool 2\u201d), Bill Camp (\u201cRed Sparrow,\u201d \u201cMolly\u2019s Game\u201d), Frances Conroy (TV\u2019s \u201cAmerican Horror Story,\u201d Hulu\u2019s \u201cCastle Rock\u201d), Brett Cullen (\u201c42,\u201d Netflix\u2019s \u201cNarcos\u201d), Glenn Fleshler (TV\u2019s \u201cBillions,\u201d \u201cBarry\u201d), Douglas Hodge (\u201cRed Sparrow,\u201d TV\u2019s \u201cPenny Dreadful\u201d), Marc Maron (TV\u2019s \u201cMaron,\u201d \u201cGLOW\u201d), Josh Pais (upcoming \u201cMotherless Brooklyn,\u201d \u201cGoing in Style\u201d), and Shea Whigham (upcoming \u201cFirst Man,\u201d \u201cKong: Skull Island<\/a>\u201d).<\/p>\n Phillips (\u201cThe Hangover\u201d trilogy) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with writer Scott Silver (\u201cThe Fighter\u201d), based on characters from DC.\u00a0 The film is being produced by Phillips and Bradley Cooper under their Joint Effort banner, and Emma Tillinger Koskoff.\u00a0\u00a0 It is executive produced by Richard Baratta, Joseph Garner and Bruce Berman.<\/p>\n Behind the scenes, Phillips is joined by director of photography Lawrence Sher (upcoming \u201cGodzilla: King of the Monsters,\u201d \u201cThe Hangover\u201d trilogy), production designer Mark Friedberg (\u201cSelma,\u201d \u201cThe Amazing Spider-Man 2<\/a>\u201d), editor Jeff Groth (\u201cWar Dogs<\/a>,\u201d \u201cThe Hangover Part III\u201d), and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges (\u201cPhantom Thread,\u201d \u201cThe Artist\u201d).<\/p>\n A Warner Bros.
