Set in Toronto at the dawn of the 20th century, Murdoch Mysteries is a one-hour drama series that explores the intriguing world of William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), a methodical and dashing detective who pioneers innovative forensic techniques to solve some of the city\u2019s most gruesome murders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Series twelve of this hugely popular ITV CHOICE show premieres on the channel (DStv 123) on Tuesday, March 5 at 20:00. Each week will see two episodes played back to back for nine weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murdoch\u2019s circle of associates includes Constable George Crabtree (Jonny Harris), Murdoch\u2019s eager and often na\u00efve right-hand man; Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig), Murdoch\u2019s sceptical yet reluctantly supportive boss; and the love of his life, pathologist-turned-psychiatrist Dr. Julia Ogden (H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Joy), a staunch ally who shares the detective\u2019s fascination with forensic science and innovative ideas. All are valuable allies who help Murdoch solve his varied cases and traverse the many stratums of Victorian-turned-Edwardian society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first episode, called Murdoch Mystery Mansion, Murdoch and Ogden\u2019s new house -designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright \u2013 is rocked by an explosion that claims a man\u2019s life. (Guest starring in the episode is Sophie McShera who played Daisy Mason in Downton Abbey.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is followed by episode two \u2013 My Big Fat Mimico Wedding \u2013 in which Murdoch, Ogden, Crabtree and Brackenreid attend Higgins\u2019 and Ruth Newsome\u2019s wedding where a guest repeatedly tries to kill the groom!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
