Elections 2019<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Battered and bruised, the campaign trail took its toll on political parties that traversed the country trying to move the needle during this year\u2019s national elections. By Tuesday the electorate still seemed confused and millions of votes were up for grabs. By Thursday, the die was cast. But in the final tally, will South Africans\u2019 votes result in more than coalitions and compromises? Carte Blanche analyses the country\u2019s sixth democratic elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turtle Rescue<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Hundreds of endangered baby turtles wash ashore on the Cape West Coast every year and only a few lucky ones that are rescued and taken to the Two Oceans Aquarium will make it. Carte Blanche meets the aquarium\u2019s team of young marine biologists that has developed a special bond with turtles and nurtures them back to health before releasing them back into the oceans, tracking their movements with the help of satellite tagging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wheelchair Fraud<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Being mobility-impaired is a life-changing experience, and besides a wheelchair, physically disabled people often need other equipment to keep them mobile and active. But some of Durban\u2019s wheelchair-bound residents have been left frustrated and out of pocket after they paid over thousands of Rands for mobility aids, like pool and car hoists, to a trusted supplier. Now they want their money back. Carte Blanche investigates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
