Tech blogger Franklin Fausti (Josh Hutcherson) is set for a once-in-a-lifetime interview with Anton Burrell (Morgan Freeman), a visionary tech guru at his newest product launch. Suddenly, Franklin thwarts an assassination attempt, saving Burrell’s life, and in the aftermath, Franklin picks up a mysterious ring that Burrell has dropped. Franklin soon discovers the ring allows its possessor to travel 57 seconds into the past. A rewind button. It doesn’t take him long to shift the odds in his favor: he seduces his new girlfriend Julia and takes easy money in casinos. Then he focuses on what he could really do with this new power: dismantle an evil pharmaceutical company, Renson, which released an addictive and dangerous drug out in the world that killed Franklin's twin sister. The global corp is led by infamous CEO Sig Thorensen, who’s also Burrell’s worst enemy. With Burrell trying to get the ring back and Thorenson trying to shatter Burrell’s legacy, Franklin gets entangled in a treacherous and brutal chain of events with much more than his own destiny at stake.
