We’re The Millers follows David Clark (Jason Sukeikis), a veteran pot dealer as he creates a fake family as part of a misguided plan to smuggle a shipment of weed in to the United States, from Mexico.
Clark talks local stripper Rose O’Reilly (Jennifer Aniston) into becoming his fake wife; Casey Mathis (Emma Roberts), a local teen who pretends to be homeless, into becoming his fake daughter; and finally, Kenny Rossmore (Will Poulter), the young and not so wordly-wise teen of his apartment block, into becoming his fake sone.
We’re The Millers is a crime comedy. It’s not slapstick, but it’s also not a laugh a minute. Although the story may be predictable, it has a heart-warming feel to it. Aniston is in her element in this role, even though the character is a lot less mushy and a lot more assertive than her usual.
It’s a great bit of escape, a fun time for fans of the genre, and the ideal introduction to rom-coms on a date night.
We’re The Millers opens 6 September 2013 in South Africa.
