Canada’s LGBTQI+ TV Network coming to South Africa

OUTtv South Africa, in partnership with MultiChoice and Canada’s OUTtv Network, will broadcast as a pop-up channel on DStv channel 198 from 4 October until 4 November 2018.  The channel will introduce diversity and innovation into the South African entertainment landscape.  It will offer viewers premium programming aimed primarily at South Africa’s large and vibrant LGBTQI+ community and friends.

OUTtv SA, together with leading global brand and the world’s first LGBTQI+ broadcaster, OUTtv, will offer a fun and passionate mix of movies, drama, lifestyle, comedy, reality, music and travel shows that appeal to the LGBTQI+ community, as well as a broader progressive audience.

More than 80% of the content on this channel has never been seen in South Africa before, so DStv Premium and Compact Plus customers can look forward to a fresh and amazing viewing experience. The channel will include a diverse mix of programming including RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, Big Freedia Queen of Bounce, Deep Water, Wentworth, Degrassi: Next Generation and Hey Qween! as well as OUTtv original series Knock Knock Ghost, Sex & Violence, Shadowlands, The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula and Don’t Quit Your Gay Job.

A selection of the shows will also be available to these customers on DStv Catch Up on their decoders, and on DStv Now online and on the app. Customers with a connected Explora will also be able to stream or download the content, and the channel will be streaming on DStv Now.

MultiChoice Brings DStv Celebs To Eastgate Mall

This weekend the interactive, immersive MultiChoice experience, called #MultiChoiceLive, will be at Eastgate Shopping Centre. DStv stars are getting ready to have fun with you.

#MultiChoiceLive is a travelling pop-up exhibition which leads visitors through an immersive journey, revealing behind-the-scenes info on the company’s much-loved brands like DStv, M-Net and SuperSport. Visitors can learn more about the company’s content, history, innovative products and contribution to the film and TV industry.

From 24 to 26 November, Eastgate Shopping Centre will be buzzing and visitors can look forward to rubbing shoulders with TV stars such as Somizi, SuzelleDIY, SyaBee, Nomzamo Mbatha and SK from The Queen will be the host. Here is the programme for the weekend:

On Friday, 24 November from 1 to 4pm visitors can meet and mingle with Somizi SomGAGA, the flamboyant Idols SA Judge and Lady Zamar, the new queen of pop music. Visitors can also show off their moves for the dance competition, and there will be a quiz and other fun activities for the kids.

On Saturday, 25 November from 11:00am to 4pm, visitors can see Somizi, take a Suzelfy with SuzelleDIY and get red carpet tips from the MTV Awards from Nomzamo Mbatha. The kids can enjoy a quiz and fun activities, and Sjava will perform his popular tracks!

The fun doesn’t stop on Sunday, 26 November from 12 to 4pm, as Thami Shobede will showcase his first studio album, Nomzamo Mbatha will wow visitors again, and the kids will be thoroughly entertained.

What is your absolute favourite film of all time? The one that opened your eyes, tugged at your heartstrings and made your soul leap with joy? Were you were born in the golden age of cinema? Is there a stack of fantastic features your like-minded friends and family have been raving about, which you’re sad to admit you haven’t seen YET?  You now have the opportunity to tick off all the films you still need to watch  – or enjoy again – before it’s time to kick the bucket!

M-Net and MultiChoice have created yet another exciting movies pop-up channel as a special treat to DStv Premium customers. Between Monday, 30 October and 2 December the M-Net Movies Bucket List pop-up channel will count down 100 popular and iconic Hollywood movies to see before you die.

This selection of fine films and all-time favourites will be showcased on DStv’s channel 109 with the first of the 100 movies scheduled for just after 18:00 on Monday, 30 October. Thereafter, the countdown will continue all the way to the number 1 main attraction on Saturday, 2 December at 20:30. Depending on the duration and age-restrictions of these films, the daily countdown will kick off on weekdays at approximately 18:00 and on weekends just before or after 16:00.

To receive the nod for the coveted M-Net Movies Bucket List, compiled by an expert team of film fanatics, a movie had to be entrenched in popular culture, define an era, shift mediums, uproot the status quo, delight a variety of audiences, impress critics worldwide and be able to reignite your love for movies.

“Our themed pop-up channels such as the Star Wars, Harry Potter, BlackOut, Fast and Furious and James Bond channels have been huge hits and we promised to continue curating unique experiences for our M-Net Movies audiences,” says Jan du Plessis, Director: M-Net Channels. “With the M-Net Movie Bucket List we’re taking the pop-up concept to the next level. MultiChoice is opening up the Premium kiddies’ channels to its Compact customers from Thursday, 29 June until Thursday, 13 July, just in time for the school holidays. DStv Compact customers will get a first view of the Premium kids channels, namely Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and Nick Jnr.

Nick Jr.’s (DStv channel 307) new episodes of Nella The Princess Knight air daily from Saturday, 1 July. In this season, Nella uses her position as a princess-knight to be a guardian for justice – when she’s not practising for her ballet recital or playing with Trinket, her unicorn best friend! In the new episodes, the girls are excited because there’s a celebrity visiting Castlehaven. Trinket has to overcome her jealousy of Nella’s new friendship with Minotauri and a near-sighted cyclops interrupts Nella’s ballet class.

Team Umizoomi: The King of Numbers is a movie where preschoolers are tested on their basic counting and recognition of shapes and patterns. In this special, the siblings Milli and Geo, and their green robot friend Bot, have to use all their maths skills to save a king.

On Disney Channel (DStv Channel 303), inventor and mediator Harley Diaz manoeuvers through the bustle that results from being part of a big happy family, from the unique vantage point of being a tween middle child. Join her for a whole new host of adventures in the premiere of Stuck in the Middle Yr2 on Monday, 3 July at 17:05, launching with the special Stuck in the Waterpark!

You can also catch familiar favourites like Elena of Avalor – a magical tale of adventure, following Elena in her journey to become a brave, resilient and compassionate queen; Bizaardvark, where Frankie and Paige, the quirky, 13-year-old best friends write funny songs and create music videos for their online channel, Bizaardvark; and Girl Meets World where life’s an adventure, and Riley Matthews’ is about to begin! This bright-eyed 7th grader and her quick-witted BFF, Maya, navigate the ups and downs of teenage life and take on the world, just as Riley’s parents once did; and so much more.
