Saving Senekal
Five years ago, it made headlines for all the wrong reasons; the murder of a young farmer unleashed unrest and exposed the distrust simmering beneath the surface of this small town. But Senekal, nestled in the Eastern Free State, is quietly rewriting its story through community-led restoration, unexpected alliances, and a shared vision for the future. It’s a story of what’s possible when those who once stood divided find a way to stand together in daily acts of courage. When a rural community decides that healing is the only way forward.

The Rhino Whisperer
For eight months, he lived among the giants. When Justin Terblanche saw poachers reduce a crash of 19 rhino to just four in the space of a few years, he couldn’t stand by. From all-night patrols with a rifle and a flashlight, eventually he moved into the bush. Sleeping under the stars, learning the rhinos’ sounds and movements – and enduring his share of bruises – he earned their trust so that he could protect them. And in time, something remarkable happened: they let him in. It’s a story of tragedy and hope, of the quiet bond between a man and the last of his herd.

Skybound!
In 2024, Jean-Pierre Seger achieved the impossible. He made a historic flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town – and he did it with nothing but a motor strapped to his back and a parachute-like wing above him. Paramotoring: it’s thrilling, it’s dangerous, and for an adrenaline-fuelled few, it’s an obsession. Now, JP and his teammate Lawrence Marais are planning an even greater challenge: a 2000-kilometre journey from the northernmost point of South Africa to the southernmost tip. To appreciate the danger and the appeal, we strap in, lift off, and experience the exhilarating, unpredictable nature of paramotoring for ourselves.
