In this Showmax-Mzansi Magic co-production, SAFTA-winner Presley Chweneyagae (Tsotsi) and SAFTA-nominee S’dumo Mtshali (Isibaya) reprise their roles as cops Shoes and Chilli from Donovan Marsh’s award-winning film of the same name. In the gritty spinoff series, Chilli infiltrates an infamous crime family to bring down an untouchable patriarch, while criminals are trying to intimidate Shoes into withholding evidence. When these cases collide, the cops find themselves at a crossroads where their brotherhood bond will be tested. Binge only on Showmax from 05 October 2017.

Co-produced by Showmax and kykNET, Waterfront is a star-studded family noir set in the dark underbelly of one of South Africa’s most popular tourist attractions. Boat-building patriarch Ben Myburgh (SAFTA nominee Dawid Minnaar) is dead. This brings his three daughters – Julia (Die Byl’s Milan Murray), Anna (Silwerskerm and Fleur du Cap nominee Rolanda Marais) and Kate (Die Boekklub’s Trix Vivier) – back to the family business at the Cape Town harbour. But only one of them will inherit the family empire in this dark story of secrets, sibling rivalry and gentrification… Weekly episodes will be available on Showmax from 11 October 2017, express from kykNET.

DREDD

The first film shot at Cape Town Film Studios, Dredd starred Karl Urban (Star Trek) as a police officer authorised to act as judge, jury and executioner in a dystopian megacity. Look out for Game of Thrones star Lena Headey in Cersei Lannister mode as gang leader Ma-Ma. Filmed in South Africa with Kalahari Pictures, Dredd won Best 3D at the Empire magazine awards, where it was also nominated as Best Science Fiction / Fantasy and Best British Film. Dredd will be available on Showmax from 16 October 2017.
