Survivor South Africa: Philippines | Do The Castaways Not Understand The Meaning Of “Merge”

M-Net 101, Thursday 5 July at 19:00

Last week, the remaining Survivors celebrated the long-awaited merge of the three tribes in M-Net’s Survivor South Africa: Philippines, and at their first Tribal Council, the newly-formed Araw decided to vote Vusi off their tribe and onto the jury.

The game has certainly changed, but it seems as if the Araw members, who now stand a 1 in 9 chance of claiming the R1 Million prize and the title of ‘Sole Survivor’, are not fully comprehending what “merge” means. It was obvious from the second they stepped onto their new beach that pre-existing tribal alliances have divided Araw along original Mindanao and Luzon lines. Why are they not shifting their focus to their individual games? Or are these superfans of the Survivor franchise smarter than what we give them credit for?

If last week is anything to go by, the ‘blue’ majority – and new member Tom – are in a prime position to pick off the ‘reds’, one by one. But the spanner in the works is Toni, who has felt that her loyalty to the ‘Mindanao Strong’ bloc hasn’t been rewarded, and with PK constantly agitating for a ‘big move’, their former tribemates had better keep an eye on them – or face a potential internal blindside.

This week, the Immunity Necklace will literally go to the last castaway standing, in a grueling Immunity Challenge – with some temptation along the way to test the castaways’ sense of security in the game.

Tune in to Survivor SA: Philippines this Thursday at 19:00 on M-Net 101.
