Ochre Media Picks Up Twelve Nomination For The 2021 SAFTAs

In a year that has seen major disruptions and delays of local productions following the Covid-19 pandemic, Ochre Media is very proud of the twelve nominations it has racked up for the 15th annual South African Film & Television Awards (SAFTAs).  The awards will take place later this month and celebrates the excellence and creative talent of our local film and television productions.

“Scandal! is delighted to be nominated for SAFTA awards in six categories: sound design, best supporting actress, best actor, best writing team, best directing team and best soap. We would like to congratulate our whole team for the recognition of the high standard of their work.” Said Scandal! producers Sanele Zulu and Grace Mahlaba.

Show runner Portia Gumede commented “We are excited to receive the recognition from our industry peers with the SAFTA nominations Housekeepers Season 2 received in the categories of  Best Achievement in Script writing, Best Achievement in Original Music Score and Best Supporting Actress and Actor.  We could not have done this without the dedication shown by the cast and crew in support of the script, especially since we had to complete the series during the first South African COVID-19 lockdown.”

  • Best Achievement in Sound – TV Soap/Telenovela – Scandal (E.tv)
  • Best Actor-TV Soap – Bongile Mantsai, Scandal! (E.tv)    
  • Best TV Soap – Scandal! (E.tv)
  • Best Supporting Actress – TV soap – Masasa Mbangeni, Scandal! (E.tv)   
  • Best Achievement in Scriptwriting – TV Drama – Housekeepers Season 2 (Mzansi Magic)
  • Best Achievement in Original Music/Score-TV Drama – Housekeepers Season 2 (Mzansi Magic)
  • Best Supporting Actress – TV Drama – Lorcia Cooper Kumalo, Housekeepers Season 2 (Mzansi Magic)
  • Best Supporting Actor -TV Drama – Lindani Nkosi, Housekeepers Season 2 (Mzansi Magic)
  • Best Children’s Programme – Takalani Sesame Season 11 (SABC 2)
  • Best Educational Programme – Made In SA Season 6 (SABC 3)

This year’s ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 22nd in a two-hour live broadcast, preceded by a virtual half-hour ‘red carpet’ event.  It has been aptly themed “Still Shining,” and will be available on both SABC 3 and Mzansi Magic for South Africans to watch and celebrate with their favourite local talent.
