Two of South Africa’s favourite musical groups Mafikizolo and GoodLuck will go head-to-head this weekend for charity on eTV’s Sanlam Moola-Money Family Game Show. The show, which launched in April, is helping millions of South Africans up their financial education levels through entertainment.
Mafikizolo is the Afro pop duo behind legendary songs such as Sibongile and Ndihamba Nawe. While GoodLuck shot to fame with its 2013 album Creatures of the Night and has continued to dazzle with its electronic sounds ever since. Both teams are looking forward to testing their financial acumen, raising awareness for the need for financial education and competing for charity.
The show aims to help South Africans to grow their financial skills and confidence. Sydney Mbhele, Group Executive: Brand at Sanlam, says big names like Mafikizolo and GoodLuck are invaluable in highlighting how fundamentally important good money management is.
“We have been so pleased with the response to the Sanlam Moola-Money Show. We’ve reached millions of people each week via the show and social media, and also had over 16 000 people play in our online financial quiz. This shows us that South Africans are very receptive to equipping themselves to live with confidence by learning how to manage their financial lives successfully.”
The celebrity contestants have each chosen a charity should they win on Saturday. If Team GoodLuck, made up of Juliet Harding and Ben Peters, wins they will use the R50 000 to assist technical crews affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the Feed My Crew initiative. “We would be nothing without the crew and stagehands who have worked with us over the years at all the events we have performed at and so we feel it is our duty to assist them, where we can, in their time of need.”
Team Mafikizolo will be playing for two charities, namely the Westrand Young Guitarist Foundation, a foundation close to Theo Kgosinkwe’s heart, while lead singer Nhlanhla Nciza aims to use her possible share for the Enkuthazweni Educare Centre, a centre dedicated to the care of underprivileged children.
Watch teams GoodLuck and Mafikizolo compete in a heated battle by tuning in to the main broadcast on Saturday 5 June 2021 on e.tv at 18h00. The episode will also repeat on Sunday 6 June 2021 on eExtra at 14h30 and Saturday 12 June 2021 on e.tv at 13h30. The show’s finale will take place on 26 June, when South Africa’s most financially astute family will be crowned.
