Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher: Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal in “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one
Netflix confirmed the following actors will be joining the cast of The Witcher: Blood Origin:
- Mirren Mack (The Nest) in the role of Merwyn
- Lenny Henry (Lord of the Rings Series) in the role of Balor
- Jacob Collins Levy (Young Wallander) in the role of Eredin
- Lizzie Annis in the role of Zacaré
- Huw Novelli (The Capture) in the role of Callan “Brother Death”
- Francesca Mills (Harlots) in the role of Meldof
- Amy Murray in the role of Fenrik
- Nathaniel Curtis (It’s a Sin) in the role of Brían
- Zach Wyatt (Karen Pirie) in the role of Syndril
- Dylan Moran (Black Books) in the role of Uthrok One-Nut
The abovementioned cast will join Laurence O’Fuarain (Fjall), Sophia Brown (Éile) and Michelle Yeoh (Scían). Sarah O’Gorman (Cursed, The Last Kingdom) will direct episodes 101,104 and 106, and Vicky Jewson (Close, Born of War) will direct episodes 102, 103 and 105.
Declan de Barra will act as Executive Producer and Showrunner, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Matt O’Toole act as Executive Producers. Andrzej Sapkowski will serve as creative consultant on the series. Jason Brown and Sean Daniel from Hivemind, and Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko from Platige Films will all serve as executive producers.
Blood Originwill be a six part, live-action limited series, and a prequel to the hit Netflix series The Witcher.

Mirren Mack
Mirren is best known for BBC 1’s The Nest written by Nicole Taylor (Wild Rose, Three Girls), and Netflix’s Sex Education.
Lenny Henry
Lenny Henry has been a comedian since the age of 16. He has risen from being a cult star on children’s television to becoming one of Britain’s best known comedians, as well as a writer, philanthropist and award-winning actor. In recent years Lenny has starred in The Comedy of Errors at The National, Fences at the Duchess Theatre, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui at the Donmar Warehouse and King Hedley ii at Theatre Royal Stratford East. Lenny’s on screen credits include Broadchurch, The Syndicate, The Long Song and the biographic film Danny and The Human Zoo. Lenny’s Production Company, Douglas Road, has achieved success in partnership with Burning Bright on the recently acclaimed The Commonwealth Kid documentary and has a host of other programmes in the pipeline. As a co-founder of Comic Relief Lenny was delighted to announce this year that the British Public has donated over £1billion to Comic Relief over the last 30 years. Lenny is a strong advocate for diversity, using his voice to give talks on the subject all over the world. He has been a Trustee of the National Theatre since February 2016 and was awarded a Knighthood in 2015 for services to drama and charity. In 2018 the BBC broadcast The Lenny Henry Birthday Show, looking back on Lenny’s career to commemorate his 60th birthday. In autumn 2019 Faber published Lenny’s memoir Who am I again? around which he wrote a live show that toured the UK for two months.
2020 has seen further book commissions with a follow-up memoir in the pipeline, two books on the topic of diversity, and a series of children’s books published through Pan Macmillan. Lenny will also be writing his own TV drama series through 2021 and has just been announced as starring in Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of Lord of the Rings.
Jacob Collins Levy
Jacob Collins-Levy can currently be seen in Netflix’s Scandi-noir thriller Young Wallander in which he plays lead antagonist (Karl-Axel Munck). He featured in a wonderful role alongside George McKay in Justin Kurzel’s film The True History Of The Ned Kelly Gang as well as a great guest star role (Lord Byron) in Doctor Who in 2020.
Other recent work includes a fantastic and hilarious guest lead role in Channel 4’s comedy series Pure as well as the lead role (Henry VII) opposite Jodie Comer in the Starz series The White Princess.
Zach Wyatt
Zach Wyatt made his professional stage debut in a two hander at Hampstead called I And You opposite Maisie Williams and has since played lead roles at The Young Vic and the Globe. He was named one of 10 theatre faces to watch in 2019.
On screen Zach appeared as Jimi Hendrix in Sky Arts series Urban Myths: Hendrix & Handel, and will next be seen as a lead regular in Karen Pirie for ITV and World Productions (Line of Duty/The Bodyguard).
Lizzie Annis
Lizzie graduated from The Oxford School of Drama in 2020, The Witcher: Blood Origin will be Lizzie’s professional debut.
Huw Novelli
Huw Novelli is a Welsh actor who has worked extensively in Film and TV. His Screen credits include Snow Spider (BBC), The Capture (BBC), The Watcher in the Woods (Lifetime) and Ordinary Lies (BBC).
Making his professional stage debut at the age of twelve, Huw has gone on to travel the world with stage productions and toured extensively within the United Kingdom, playing roles such as ‘Hamlet’, ‘Torvald Helmer’,’ Macbeth’ and ‘Dracula’.
Francesca Mills
Francesca is best known for her portrayal of Cherry Dorrington in Harlots (A Hulu Original) and Earthy Mangold in Worzel Gummidge (BBC). Most recently Francesca worked alongside Danny Boyle on FX’s Pistol.
Further television credits include: Jack and the Beanstalk: After Ever After (Sky), Dr. Seuss’ the Grinch Musical (NBC).

Nathanial Curtis
British actor Nathaniel Curtis was catapulted into homes all over the globe as Ash Mukherjee in Russell T. Davie’s break-out show for Channel 4/HBO’s It’s A Sin in 2021. The hit series depicts the lives of a group of gay men and their friends who lived during the UK view of the HIV/AIDS crisis in 1980s. Rolling Stone called the show “an unsparing yet sentimental cocktail of ingredients goes down perfectly” and it garnered 5* reviews across the board from the likes of The Telegraph, The Guardian, Empire and NME
Dylan Moran
Dylan Moran is a comedian, actor and writer who in 1996 became the youngest ever winner of the Perrier Award. Black Books, the Channel 4 hit sitcom that he co-wrote and starred-in, won him two BAFTAs, and he has since won numerous prizes and accolades for his television work and live-shows. As a comedian, Moran has toured the world many times, but he also works extensively in film. His performances alongside Simon Pegg in Shaun of the Dead and Run Fatboy Run were followed by A Film With Me In It and Calvary.
