“Singleholic”, In Cinemas 18 February 2022 ,Offers Hilarious Take On The Lives Of The Chronically Single

According to Bumble, 53 percent of users are content with the idea of being alone for a while. What’s more, 54 percent are vowing to be more mindful about dating and 46 percent claim to not feel self-conscious for being single.

Talk about a healthy mindset! But for many, being single really, really sucks, especially when movies and TV series go on about the fact that you aren’t truly “complete” until you’ve found a significant other.

But being single is really important for learning about yourself and your needs. Don’t we all know someone who is chronically single? Chronically means each year they find themselves still single regardless of the number of dates or short relationships they have. The problem is that some people jump from relationship to relationship and carry their baggage with them.

‘Singleholic’ is an hilarious comedy about getting back in the game. Sarah Wilcox (Erica Ash) moves to the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius to pursue her PhD after a painful breakup with her boyfriend.  While there, despite her misgivings, she agrees to a series of disastrous and often very funny dating encounters that do little to convince her of the need to be in a relationship.  Perhaps being single has its own rewards.

In the role of Sarah is American actress, comedian, singer and model Erica Ash (‘Survivor’s Remorse’, ‘Uncle Drew’). Vanessa Estelle Williams (‘New Jack City’, ‘Soul Food’) plays Jackie and South African-American actress Jenna Saras (‘Momentum’) is GeeGee.

The male cast comprises Nigerian-American actor, musician, songwriter and model Olurotimi Akinosho (‘Power’), as struggling artist Sam, actor and retired baseball player, Stephen Bishop (‘Being Mary Jane’), Tyson Beckford (superstar model and actor) and Adrian Martinez (‘Focus’, ‘I Feel Pretty’).

Produced by Milan Selassie, ‘Singleholic’ is based on the novel by the same name from English author Katherine Bing.  Bryan Barber served as the director. This film was shot in Mauritius.

‘Singleholic’ is distributed in South Africa by Indigenous Film Distribution.
