Netflix Unveils The Official Trailer For Its First African Action Thriller, Silverton Siege

Guns, fast cars, and freedom fighters tumble out of Netflix’s official trailer for its first African action thriller Silverton Siege. The film is set to explode onto screens globally on 27 April 2022, coinciding with Freedom Day in South Africa. Directed by the legendary filmmaker Mandla Dube, Silverton Siege features a stellar cast which includes Thabo Rametsi, Noxolo Dlamini, and Stefan Erasmus, as well as veteran actors Arnold Vosloo and Tumisho Masha. The movie dramatises the 1980 hostage stand-off between Apartheid police and Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK) members Wilfred Madela, Stephen Mafoko, and Humphrey Makhubo in a bank in Silvetorn, Pretoria.

While on a high-profile mission to sabotage a petrol depot, a trio of anti-Apratheid freedom fighters realise they are being tailed by the police. A fierce chase ensues which sees the fighters seeking refuge inside a bank. The trio suspects there is a mpimpi (a sell-out) in their midst. The question is whom? Pressure mounts and tension rises amongst them in the bank. As the trio recognises their only options are prison or death, they negotiate for the release of Nelson Mandela.
