FORUMS :

FORUM #1: Shared Practice – a view of the integrated dance playing field

THURSDAY 13 October: 6 – 7.30pm

Facilitator: Nadine McKenzie (UNMUTE DANCE COMPANY, SA)

Overview:
Given the incredible gathering of global integrated dance practitioners at this festival, this forum is a space for all participants of the festival to share their work and the vision of each company/choreographer. This sharing is a space to promote awareness and dialogue between artists as a means of collective practices that grows integrated dance in both the dance education and performance arenas.

This Forum is open to any audience/guests who wish to join.

This Forum will be live streamed! (details and link to follow very shortly)

Possible Outcome: setting up a network of integrated dance practitioners.

FORUM #2: Thinking Disability – Thinking Citizenship (a participatory workshop)

SUNDAY 15 October: 4.30 – 6pm

Facilitator: Lliane Loots (FLATFOOT DANCE COMPANY, SA)

Overview:
In thinking about the idea of citizenship in various local global contexts, this interactive participatory dialogue seeks to open up discussion on how the disabled subject is situated in various contexts of inclusion and exclusion – be these cultural, artistic, personal and political. The forum opens up the idea of dance as a tool to negotiated citizenship and ideas of place.

This Forum is open to any audience/guests who wish to join.

This Forum will be documented and shared at a later stage, after the Festival, on the Sibikwa FB Page.

Possible Outcomes: continued sharing of practice, identifying various areas of challenge and struggle for artists working in integrated dance practices and the onward setting up of a network of support and artistic care.
