Hot on the heels of the release of his debut album and his victory on Ontbytsake (he won the songwriter’s competition), Muller Brandt is back in the spotlight with an upbeat Afrikaans song about a hunting trip with the boys.
WILDEBEES, which he co-wrote with Jattie de Beer, is based on his own farm experiences on his brother-in-law’s farm in All Days and reveals that each man has a wildebeest hidden inside.
“It is a humoristic song with a catchy tune that people will enjoy dancing to,” he shares about his second Afrikaans single.
The music video, filmed on location at Sikilele Farm, will be available soon and shows a few city boys learning how things are done on the farm.
“The fact that you don’t have to be good at everything to unleash your inner-wildebeest is the message I wanted to convey with this video,” Muller explains.
WILDEBEES is part of his debut album, Brand die Skepe, and follows in the footsteps of Moedertaal which was very well received and got playlisted on several major radio stations.
The song is also the theme song of the adventure program on VIA, Wildebees, which is also a very popular clothing brand.
Muller Brandt was born and raised in Pretoria and has been working in the music industry for the past twelve years. His dad’s love of country music ignited his own passion for singing and he has never given up on his dream to be a fulltime musician.
The thirty-year-old artist admits that Theuns Jordaan has had the biggest influence on his own style, but that he also has great admiration for stars like Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Boney M, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp, Neil Diamond and Luke Combs.
He says that he is already working on material for his next album. But for now, he looks forward to taking a break at the end of the year and spending some quality time with his friends and family.

Muller Brandt Sing Oor ’N Lekker Jagnaweek In Nuwe Enkelsnit
Kort op die hakke van die uitreiking van sy eerste solo-album en sy oorwinning in Ontbytsake se liedjieskryfkompetisie, is Muller Brandt terug op almal se lippe met ’n lekker sekulêre treffer oor vriende wat saam plaas toe gaan om te jag.
WILDEBEES, wat hy saam met Jattie de Beer geskryf het, is gebaseer op sy eie plaas-ervaring op sy swaer se plaas in All Days en beskryf hoe elke man van nature ’n wildebees in hom het.
“Dis ’n lekker humoristiese skoffelliedjie, wat jou voete sal laat jeuk om te dans,” sê hy oor sy tweede Afrikaanse enkelsnit.
Die musiekvideo, wat op Sikilele-plaas geskiet is en wys hoe ’n klomp stadsjapies op die plaas kuier en leer hoe alles werk, sal binnekort op die kassie te sien wees.
“Jy hoef nie goed te wees in alles om ’n wildebees te wees nie, is die boodskap wat ek graag met dié video wil tuisbring,” verduidelik Muller.
Wildebees vorm deel van sy debuut-album, Brand die Skepe, en volg in die voetspore van Moedertaal wat baie goed ontvang is en speeltyd op groot radiostasies regoor die land geniet.
Die lied is ook die temalied van die avontuur program op VIA, Wildebees, wat ook ‘n baie gewilde klere handelsmerk is.
Muller Brandt het in Pretoria grootgeword en werk al twaalf jaar in die musiekbedryf. Sy pa se liefde vir country-musiek het sy passie vir sing laat vlam vat en hy het nog nooit afgewyk van sy droom om ’n voltydse sanger te wees nie.
Dié dertigjarige kunstenaar meen dat Theuns Jordaan die grootste invloed gehad het op sy eie styl, maar vind ook aanklank by musikante soos Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Boney M, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp, Neil Diamond en Luke Combs.
Hy verklap dat hy reeds besig is om liedjies bymekaar te maak vir sy volgende album, maar vir nou sien hy eers uit om ’n blaaskans te vat aan die einde van die jaar en tyd met vriende en familie te spandeer.
