Saarkie Gets Nostalgic About Their Childhood In New Rock Ballad

Hot on the heels of their most recent hit, Rondomtalie, South Africa’s favourite rock chicks are back in the spotlight with a nostalgic ballad that is sure to resonate with listeners of all ages.

JASMYN KIND’s melody and lyrics were written by Adèle Fouché, who recorded instruments and co-composed the song with Lila Botha and Lourene Mostert. The song was recorded and produced at High Seas Studios by Jacques du Plessis and mastered by Gustav van Rooyen.

When you take time out to reflect, you are able to find healing in memories of the past,” SAARKIE explains. “The song takes you on an imaginary journey, on mysterious roads that we all travel on. At the end of the day, life is less complicated when you look at it through a child’s eyes.”

According to the group, the song has been very well received so far and boasts a calmness that moves the soul.

The music video was shot on a farm near Dullstroom, called Hemel op Aarde. Unbreakable Media’s Marlie was behind the camera and wanted the video to have a more serious approach.

Unfortunately, they constantly had to adapt due to poor weather conditions, but this also added to the final product.

Just like children grow up naturally, we also go through natural stages in life. Day and night, dark and light, hot and cold… but somehow there is always someone to turn on the fire,” they share. “Even if you are standing underneath a sea of poplar trees, with the cold wind blowing through the leaves, you will always have someone by your side who finds beauty in those blowing leaves of appreciates fireflies at night. Continue to see the beauty in each season of your life.”

JASMYN KIND and Rondomtalie is available on their upcoming album and follows in the successful footsteps of hits like Waar lê jou hart (the titular track of their previous album), Reënweer and River Blues, which were all well received and won several Afri-Indie Awards, including Best live rock band, Best alternative album, Best alternative single and Best rock single.

We are thankful to everyone who has supported us over the past seventeen years. All of our songs may not have been equally well received, but people have always liked our music. JASMYN KIND is the second single from our sixth studio album.”

Although SAARKIE ( Adèle Fouché and Lila Botha ) has always been a girl’s group, they now share the stage with any young talented musician.

In addition to working on the new album and having a full calendar, they are also busy planning a tour to New Zealand, Europe and Australia.

Adèle keeps busy by writing music for herself and other artist, gardening and doing DIY-projects in and around the house.

Lila manages her own business – Da Capo Trading – that supplies corporate clothing and gifts, workwear, PPE and signage to businesses. She is also a keen tennis player.

The girls love spending time outdoors and have already completed the Otter and Fish River hiking trails.

They are also looking forward to their first production at Atterbury Theatre on 16 November. Tickets are available from www.seatme.co.za.

JASMYN KIND is now available on all digital platforms.
