As the single destination for endless entertainment for everyone, Disney+ viewers in South Africa will welcome brand new and exclusive content as over 40 Indian series and movies launch on the service from 23 March 2023.
Leading the pack is The Night Manager, a Hindi-language crime thriller television series created by Sandeep Modi, is a remake of the British television series The Night Manager based on John Le Carre’s novel of the same name. The celebrated series stars superstar Anil Kapoor and tells the story of a reluctant Night Manager-turned -spy that takes down operations of an international arms dealer.
Its officially Koffee time on Disney+, with Season 7 of the popular talk show Koffee with Karan. Catch all the celebrity gossip and controversy courtesy of Bollywood’s favourite director-host, Karan Johar, as some of India’s biggest stars, including Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, get chatty, catty and competitive to win the coveted Koffee Hamper.
Koffee with Karan joins an exciting line-up of new content from India on Disney+ that includes the Emmy-nominated series Aarya and three seasons of the critically acclaimed Criminal Justice.
Starring Sushmita Sen, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vir Das, Aarya is the official remake of the popular Dutch crime drama ‘Penoza’. It revolves around Aarya Sareen (Sen), a caring mother and wife, whose world is upended when her pharma baron husband is killed. Criminal Justice follows the journey of Aditya Sharma, portrayed by Vikrant Massey, in an award-winning turn as a cab driver falsely accused of murder.
Fans of action will be on the edge of their seats with the Kay Kay Menon-led series Special Ops that sees Himmat Singh and his team on a mission to end a nineteen-year-long manhunt, whilst Hansika’s Love Shaadi Drama features Hansika Motwani and follows her preparations for marriage to the love of her life, Sohael Khaturiya – both series will be joining the lineup.
For Indian movie fans, Akshay Kumar features as a small-town, rookie cop hot on the trail of a serial killer targeting teenage schoolgirls in the psychological crime thriller Cuttputlli, as well as a possessed husband in the horror-comedy Laxmii. Both films join another horror-comedy Bhoot Police and war drama Bhuj in the new releases list.
Other highlights include the Kamal Haasan-fronted, action-packed, Vikram, the period romance drama Sita Raman with Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal as well as Gulmohar that brings together a collection of award-winning actors including ‘Life of Pi’ fame actor Suraj Sharma.
The new releases join an expanding roster of content from South Asia, which includes the record-breaking Brahmastra Part One: Shiva. The latest content features four Indian languages: Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. All titles will be available in their original language with subtitles in English. Plus, subject to availability, some content will also feature subtitles in additional languages, with dubbing options as well.
