Prime Video Reveals All-Star Line-up Joining Trevor Noah for “LOL: Last One Laughing South Africa”, Launching Early 2024

Trevor Noah pits 10 South African comedy stars and celebrities against one another, including Nomzamo Mbatha, Celeste Ntuli, Glen Biderman-Pam, Jason Goliath, Thando Thabethe, Lasizwe Dambuza, Tumi Morake, Moonchild Sanelly, Robby Collins and Mojak Lehoko, to win a grand prize of R1 million for charity

Prime Video has revealed the cast of local comedians and celebrities that will join host Trevor Noah in its first South African Original unscripted series, LOL: Last One Laughing South Africa. The six-part series is set to launch in South Africa and globally in early 2024. 

The new cast of competitors for this season features some of the funniest and entertaining performers in South Africa including Nomzamo Mbatha, Celeste Ntuli, Glen Biderman-Pam, Jason Goliath, Thando Thabethe, Lasizwe Dambuza, Tumi Morake, Moonchild Sanelly, Robby Collins andMojak. The cast will compete against one another to see who can keep a straight face while simultaneously trying to make their opponents laugh – and lose. The winning comedian will score a grand prize of R1 million on behalf of the South African charity of choice.

The LOL: Last One Laughing series – co-produced by Rapid Blue who are part of BBC Studios’ international family of production companies, and Day Zero Productions – is an adaptation of Prime Video’s global smash-hit comedy franchise currently produced in more than 20 countries and territories worldwide, including Emmy-nominated versions in Germany and Australia. Basketmouth hosts Africa’s first-ever LOL series, LOL: Last One Laughing Naija.

About the Cast of Competators

Celeste Ntuli

Award-winning stand-up Celeste has been dubbed the Queen of Zulu Comedy, and was the first South African female comic to record a one woman show DVD, and has performed to sold out crowds in London. She’s also a SAFTA winning actress. 

Glen Biderman-Pam

An award-winning commercial director and the co-founder of Panther Punch Productions. He has written, directed and starred in viral content videos that have accumulated millions of views. He’s also renowned for his acting work with the Sketchbook team.

Jason Goliath

Veteran standup comedian, MC and actor Jason is a member of South Africa’s most famous comedy family. He is the co-founder of the award-winning Comedy Agency Goliath and Goliath with Donovan and Nicholas. With his agency, Jason has won multiple Comics’ Choice Best Friend of Comedy Awards for their work supporting local comedy talent.

Lasizwe Dambuza

Multi-award-winning media personality, comedian, reality star and philanthropist Lasizwe has won two Prism Awards for his comic online persona Nomatriquency, and is famous for capturing the nuances of South African life, performing a wide range of character sketches on social media and the first to have a reality show on MTV in Africa. He recently became part of Forbes 30 under 30.”

Mojak Lehoko

A multi-award-winning and nominated comedian who has graced various stages across South Africa and internationally. A writer and actor, he has starred and contributed to numerous TV shows such as The Bantu Hour, Late Night News with Loyiso Gola and various Viacom projects.

Moonchild Sanelly

Blue haired Queen of Gqom, singer, dancer and reality star Sanelisiwe “Moonchild Sanelly” Twisha featured on Beyoncé’s Lion King: The Gift, joined Gorillaz on their worldwide stadium tour, and has rocked stages at festivals around the world.

Nomzamo Mbatha

Executive producer, actress, and star of the comedy Coming 2 America on Prime Video. Nomzamo is also an UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and founder of the youth development focussed Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation.

Thando Thabethe

A SAFTA winning actress, Radio Award winning radio host and entrepreneur, with a career spanning over 16 years. Thando made her TV debut on hit sitcom “My Perfect Family” and has gone on to star in international titles including “How To Ruin Christmas” and “Reyka”. Thando is also a Television Producer having recently launched her Production Company, Redwood Productions.

Tumi Morake

A purveyor of all things comedy, this pioneering, multi-award winning standup comedian, actress, award winning tv and radio host and star of the comedy movie “The Honeymoon” on Prime Video. 

Robby Collins

Standup comedian, sketch comedy artist, actor and writer Robby has opened for Trevor Noah on all his one-man shows from Day Walker (2010) through to Nationwild (2014). Robby was also the opening act for Dave Chappelle on the South African leg of his world tour.
