Previously on In Your Dreams, best friends Lloyd (Kiroshan Naidoo), Marcus (Jesse Suntele) and Dineo (Didintle Khunou) accidentally awakened Baka, the spirit of the Walala Statue. A sangoma revealed that Baka would present them with three challenges in which their dreams would come to life, before forcing them to battle their deepest fears. If they lost, Baka would claim their souls. The dreams exposed some of their darkest memories, including Lloyd’s abandonment as a child, Marcus’s violent abuse at the hands of his father, and the death of Dineo’s mother, along with her father’s mental collapse.
The first three episodes of In Your Dreams premiered globally on Prime Video on Friday, 24 November. The final three episodes air on Friday, 8 December.
In Your Dreams stars Didintle Khunou, Jesse Suntele and Kiroshan Naidoo, and features Sello Maake kaNcube, Thando Thabethe, Khabonina Qubeka, Anthony Oseyemi, Tshamano Sebe and Nqobile Sipamla. The series is produced by independent African production company Motion Story (Shadow, Dead Places).

Episode Description of 104
Knowing that they will have to face their greatest fears next, Dineo suggests to Lloyd and Marcus that they visit a hypnotist to tackle their fears and, hopefully, give them the weapons they need for their upcoming psychological battle. Marcus is onboard until he finds out that the hypnotherapist is Dineo’s ex-boyfriend, a handsome yoga instructor. Marcus is swept up in competitive jealousy until the next crisis, when Lloyd’s dreams awaken a horror movie monster who’s determined to murder all three of them. Can Marcus draw on his inner hero, save the day, and outshine Mr. Yoga?

Troubles keep coming as the three return from the yoga retreat, and Marcus’s phobia leads to them having to fight off some unwanted guests. There’s no rest before the next trial arrives, and Marcus must face his true deepest fear – his abusive father, the man who nearly killed both him and his mother when he was a child. Meanwhile Lloyd is forced to confront the truth about the day that he was abandoned him when he was a child. And the three find out that there’s more at stake than their souls. Surviving the Baka’s challenges is beyond even life or death.

Marcus, Lloyd and Dineo are breathing a premature sigh of relief when they uncover a twist in the tale. The fate of an innocent soul, along with those of entire families, hangs in the balance, and the three will have to fight harder than they’ve ever fought before to survive. Meanwhile, a dangerous man from Dineo’s past, her father’s old business partner, Akeem (Anthony Oseyemi) has been searching for the Walala statue When he finds out that Dineo has it, he’ll be willing to go to any lengths at all to get his hands on it…and make his own twisted dreams come true.

Sangoma: A South African traditional holistic healer, herbalist and spiritualist who communicates with ancestral spirits, and performs cleansing rituals and rites of passage, as well as divining and interpreting dreams.
The Walala Statue: Wa(lala) means sleep in South African indigenous languages Zulu and Xhosa.
The Baka: A spirit cursed by the ancient sangomas, the Baka is enslaved to the Walala Statue. The Baka forces those who use the statue to battle their own shadows in three trials before being faced with their deepest fears. Baka claims the souls of those who fail. But if anyone succeeds, Baka will grant their one heart’s desire.

Prime Video South Africa’s first scripted series In Your Dreams centers on down-at-heel best friends and business partners Lloyd (Kiroshan Naidoo) and Marcus (Jesse Suntele), who accidentally awaken an ancient spirit when they encounter Marcus’ schoolboy crush, adventuring relic hunter and antiquities dealer Dineo (Didintle Khunou). With horrifying and hilarious results, the malevolent spirit will show our intrepid adventurers what they’re truly willing to do to make their most heartfelt dreams come true.
