The Disney “May Your Wishes Come True” Holiday Magic Continues This December

Following the launch of the biggest Disney Africa retail campaign “May Your Wishes Come True” earlier this month, including the first Disney-inspired plane livery with LIFT and the release of a global advert “A Wish For The Holidays”, the Disney festive cheer is set to continue this holiday season.

For the last seven years, Disney-themed “Chari-trees” have taken centre stage at various malls across the country, and this year there are 13 shopping centres hosting the festive installations, alongside one eye-catching Disney-inspired hot air balloon installation. This is the largest number of shopping centres participating since the first tree in 2015 at Cresta Shopping Centre in Johannesburg.

Proudly presented in association with VISA and Investec, with support from Toys R US and Jacaranda FM, the Chari-tree and hot air balloon installations can be found at the following participating malls: Clearwater Mall, Eastgate Shopping Centre, Fourways Mall, The Glen Shopping Centre, Hyde Park Shopping Centre, Melrose Arch, Rosebank Mall, and Sandton City in Johannesburg; Woodlands Mall in Pretoria; Canal Walk Shopping Centre, Capegate Shopping Centre and Somerset Mall in Cape Town and Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Durban.

The Chari-trees will also offer the opportunity for shoppers to give back this holiday season through donations to Reach for a Dream. The public will be able to make a cash donation towards the purchase of a plush toy on the trees, with both the toy and the money raised being donated to the wish-fulfilment charity.

In addition to these installations, various malls have additional May Your Wishes Come True-themed activities for kids to enjoy all festive long. The ice slides return to Canal Walk, while Woodlands Mall and Capegate will feature a dress-up and arts and crafts section. Clearwater Mall will feature a creative corner, Rosebank Mall offers up Disney-inspired caricature family portraits, Hyde Park is adding on a festive claw machine (for a chance to grab a prize like in an arcade) to their charity drive and Gateway will also play host to a Disney-themed Festive Play Park.

Earlier this month “May Your Wishes Come True” launched with Disney’s first live-action festive ad, titled “A Wish For The Holidays”. The ad, which takes inspiration from the newly released Walt Disney Animation Studios’ movie Wish, was shot entirely in Cape Town. Telling the stories of families and friends from around the world, united by a universal wish to be together, “A Wish For The Holidays” represents six geographical locations and languages, together with family festive traditions. In celebration of Mzansi playing host to the shoot, Disney Africa has released a special behind-the-scenes featurette:

This holiday season, Disney’s “May Your Wishes Come True” offers the perfect opportunity to stock up on those gifts for every member of the family – bringing stories and characters to life through innovative products across multiple categories: from toys and apparel to jewelry, technology and consumables, including brand-new products from the movie Wish, including Lego and figurines.
