Capitec with Comic Con: Day Two Wrap

Friday at Comic Con Cape Town was nothing short of epic. With loads of international stars on stage, awesome activations, thrilling gaming, and incredible Cosplays, it was a day packed with memorable moments.

Sold Out Show

Day two was sold out, but the queue was moving as soon as the doors opened. The Capitec Super Fan passholders got to enter half an hour earlier at 8.30am, but come 9am, the Comic Con team got fans through the door faster than The Flash could make it round the block, with 5,000 fans gaining access in the first hour alone.

Main Stage

The Main Stage was popping, with appearances from Dragon Ball Z voice actor Christopher Sabat, Evanna Lynch of Harry Potter fame, voice actor Jason Liebrecht, and (most of!) the cast from One Piece, including Steven John Ward, Callum Kerr, and Brendan Sean Murray. They participated in panels and Q&As, and shared their experiences in the world of international stardom. All were fan favourites, and there was standing room only in front of the Main Stage.

Good Games Only

The gaming got even more thrilling, with the Experience floor – AKA level two – having loads of free-to-play zones that gave fans the opportunity to not just watch the games, but also play them. It’s a super interactive space. Computer Mania brought all the hardware and brands that you could wish for, including PC Builder, Xiaomi, MSI, Patriot, ASRock, Hiksemi, Redragon, Antec, ASUS, DeepCool, and more. Not to mention insane specials – think up to 35% off. Computer Mania also brought The Computer Destroyer activation – gloves, a hammer, and a Perspex box filled with old computer parts that fans could smash all their feelings out on!

Burger King, The Mandalorian, and Grogu

Comic Con is crowned by Burger King, and their activation was packed all day long. It features The Mandlorian and Grogu, with tons of exclusive merch and prizes on offer. Fans could win vouchers for Burger King meals, and score their own limited edition Grogu cup.

For the Kids

There was no shortage of fun for the little ones. The RGB Gaming stand had them testing out their controller skills playing Minecraft and Fortnite. The Takealot shopping experience had a great collection of toys, games, and interactive play areas to keep them entertained, while Solarpop’s activities were packed with excited kids all day.

Minions and More

Characters filled the halls of Comic Con Cape Town. It was the opportunity to take photos with life-sized mascots. Alongside the Minions were the cutest (and goofiest) cat and dog duo, Noodle & Bun, which has become an animation sensation among kids and adults alike – catch them on YouTube. Sea Harvest’s own characters were around too – Omega Mind, the Incredible Hake, and Captain Crisp – dancing and having fun with fans in the Food Truck Village.

Hanging Out with Thousands of Your Friends

All-in-all it was a day that fans will remember forever. The best part? Hanging out with each other. Fans loved meeting their people, the ones who are just as geeky as they are. There is nothing quite like feeling that you belong.

Comic Con Cape Town is sold out for the weekend, with an anticipated 36,000 fans in total attending the show.
