MARVEL ANIMATION ANNOUNCES ITS FIRST FULL-LENGTH PRESCHOOL SERIES ‘MARVEL’S SPIDEY AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS’ SET TO DEBUT ON DISNEY JUNIOR

Spidey, Miles Morales and Ghost-Spider Team Up with Hulk, Black Panther and Others to Protect Their Neighbourhood

Marvel Animation’s first full-length Marvel series “Spidey and His Amazing Friends”, geared toward pre-schoolers and their families, will launch on Saturday, 16 October on Disney Junior, DStv channel 309. The series launches with premiere episodes on Saturdays and Sundays from 16 -24 October at 10:00.

Our favourite neighbourhood super-hero is used to working solo, but now Peter Parker must discover what it takes to become a truly amazing super-hero: being a spider friend who works well with others. Together with his friends Miles Morales and Gwen, AKA, Ghost-Spider, they will team up with heroes such as Hulk, Black Panther and Ms. Marvel, to defeat evil foes and learn that teamwork is the best way to save the day.

Preschool kids already love Spidey, so they’ll be delighted to have Peter Parker web-slinging across their screens in this new series, which showcases the exciting adventures of Spidey and his friends as they model the importance of teamwork and helping others in their community. The series is the introduction for pre-schoolers to the super-hero powers of friendship and working together to help others in need. A second season of “Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends,” has already been greenlit, so fans can look forward to many more neighbourhood adventures.

“The premiere of ‘Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends’ has been a seminal moment in our journey to bring Marvel’s stories to preschool audiences,” said Dan Buckley, president of Marvel Entertainment. “Spider-Man has always been a character to break new ground for Marvel in every medium, so we’re thrilled Peter, Gwen and Miles are resonating with so many fans. We can’t wait to continue bringing that joy and experience to young kids and their families with a second season.”

GRAMMY® Award-nominated musician Patrick Stump, lead singer of the multiplatinum-selling rock band Fall Out Boy, will perform the theme song for “Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends.” Stump also serves as songwriter and composer for the series, which is the first full-length Marvel series for preschoolers. The theme song, which was also written and produced by Stump, is available today on the Disney Junior Hits Playlist and the digital soundtrack, Disney Junior Music: Spidey and His Amazing Friends, is set for release Friday, Sept. 17, on Walt Disney Records.

Of his involvement with the series, Stump said, “When I was approached to write the music for ‘Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends,’ I was first just excited to hear that Disney Junior was doing this show, and secondly, I think it took me all of 10 minutes to say yes and start writing the theme song in my head. As a lifelong Marvel fan, this is a dream come true for me, and I can’t wait for kids and families, including my own kids, to see the show when it premieres this summer.”
