New David Johnson Single Brings Hope After The Pandemic

Talented singer and actor, David Johnson, wants to inspire listeners to be hopeful with new single.

KOM DANS SAAM MET MY is a folk pop song, written by Theunis Duvenhage, about life during and after lockdown. This is David’s fourth radio single and promises to impress fans just as much as the previous three.

The song, produced by Wicus Struwig, invites people to interact and enjoy life now that everything is back to normal,” says David, who plays Liam Willemse on Getroud met Rugby, about the meaning behind the song.

A music video of this motivational track will also be released soon.

KOM DANS SAAM MET MY follows the release of a duet, Bring ’n Braai, with his wife and well-known entertainer, Bianca le Grange. Their single, Ek Baklei Vir Jou was also named Lekker FM’s number one duet, which has been a huge highlight of his career so far.

David, who was born in George, has been passionate about entertaining people all of his life. He started his music career in church and fell in love with acting after playing a frog in a pre-school play.

The versatile musician starred in musicals throughout high school. He also worked at a music store in Tyger Valley for three years, after which he proceeded to study Musical Theatre at the University of Cape Town.

He is known for his roles in 7de Laan and Getroud Met Rugby. He has also performed in musicals such as Blood Brothers, The Fantastics and The Rat Pack, in which he played the legendary Sammy Davis Jnr. In addition, he played Malcolm X in the Market Theatre’s One night in Miami and was nominated for a Naledi Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the Market Theatre’s Yellowman.

He is a hip-hop fanatic and would love to collaborate with Hemelbesem en Zuluboy in the future. He is also one of the directors of DWB Productions and is currently working on Geel Volla, which he wrote in 2021.

David is a hard worker and authentic. “There is rhythm in everything I do, and music captures the emotion of the stories I tell,” he says about his own style. “I can rock in Afrikaans, but also know how to do a Crooner song.”
